Ithaca couple Severin Beckwith and Anna Brettmann were catching a few winks at the Lodge at Fontana Village Resort after lunch when they heard a knock and their door flew open, the New Yorker reported. “Next thing I see is a bunch of guys with riot shields with ‘US Marshals’ written on them, handguns pointed at my face,” Beckwith told the mag. An Afghan talent show contestant’s striking resemblance to Justin Trudeau has turned him into an unlikely celebrity in the war-torn country. Slightly built with a long face and dark brown hair and eyes, Maftoon, 29, hopes the flattering comparison to the politician widely rated as one of the sexiest leaders in the world will bring him more...

Cecilia Thompson was working as a FEMA contractor doing demolition in Mississippi in 2008 when U.S. Sen. John McCain announced Sarah Palin as his running mate. Friends and family started calling immediately, saying “that lady running for vice president looks just like Cecilia.” About a year later, Thompson, a North Shore native who splits time between Massachusetts and Colorado, began working as a part-time Sarah Palin impersonator at political events and business functions. Thompson, who gives her age as “older than Sarah,” sat atop the Green Monster in-character last night after winning tickets in an “As Seen on TV” costume...

He looks O, so familiar. Maybe it's the American-flag lapel pin, or that supersized smile - or maybe it's just those ears. But the man posing for pictures outside the Grace Hotel in Midtown Wednesday was not really the nation's commander in chief, even if some European tourists were fooled.

“NBC Nightly News” anchor Brian Williams told The Hill that he wrote Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) and Rep. Harold Ford Jr. (D-Tenn.) letters of apology last week after he confused the two men at the State of the Union address. During NBC’s broadcast, Williams noticed Obama on the House floor and identified him to the viewing audience. Unfortunately, it was actually Ford. “I made a silly and honest mistake, and knowing both men I knew instantly what I had done,” a contrite and gracious Williams said in a phone call. “I obviously should have corrected it, but the proper time...

BERLIN, Sept 26 (AFP) - Iraqi President Saddam Hussein has at least three doubles who stand in for him at official events and has not appeared in public personally since 1998, German public television channel ZDF reported Thursday.
