Marc Wilson / PHOTO: Bulloch County Sheriff's Office (Ben Sellers, Headline USA) As desperately trailing Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams scrambles for a winning message to avoid yet another defeat at the hands of Gov. At least three other lawsuits have been...

The jurors have found Kim Potter, the former Brooklyn Center police officer who shot and killed Daunte Wright, guilty on counts of both first- and second-degree manslaughter. The jury had deliberated for approximately 28 hours Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Late Tuesday, they asked Judge Regina Chu what they should do if they could not arrive at a verdict. Speaking with the jurors, Chu told them they needed to continue with deliberations with open minds and a willingness to listen to each other’s viewpoints.

DENVER (AP) — Relatives, lawmakers and other supporters of a trucker sentenced to 110 years in prison after an explosive brake-failure accident that left four people dead rallied in Denver Wednesday to plead for clemency. Supporters of Rogel Aguilera-Mederos say the sentence is deeply unjust and truck drivers around the country have taken up his cause, using hashtags like #NoTrucksToColorado and #NoTrucksColorado. Speaking at the rally at the state Capitol, Leonard Martinez, one of the lawyers representing Aguilera-Mederos, said the injustice of such long sentences needs to be addressed, both by reforming sentencing laws but also looking at the actions...

1. Alec said he and Halyna were new friends and collaborated frequently during the filming of Rust. "When I met her, I knew she had that spark," Alec described. "I knew she had that flint to her that she was going to get that day's work done and get the shots that she wanted." 4. During the scene Alec was shooting with the gun, the first assistant director allegedly declared "this is a cold gun." On film sets, that means there is no real ammunition in the gun. "When he's saying this is a cold gun, what he's saying to...

Ethan Crumbley’s parents have been charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection to the Michigan school shooting allegedly carried out by their 15-year-old son. The charges for James and Jennifer Crumbley stem from having purchased a gun for the teen in the days ahead of the deadly shooting. Their son is already being held without bail on murder and terrorism charges over Tuesday’s Oxford High School rampage that left four dead and seven injured in the deadliest US school shooting of the year. Officials had hinted for days that the parents — who told their son not to talk to investigators...

Today I’d like to take a look at a shooting out of Lubbock TX that is suddenly getting a great deal of news and social media coverage—the shooting death of Chad Read by William Carruth. As is so often the case, there is, unfortunately, a lot of confusion about how to understand the use-of-force legal issues in this case, with a great deal of misunderstanding of both the relevant law and how it should reasonably apply to the facts of this case. In addition, there’s a great deal of weight being put on factors that are, really, irrelevant to a...

ALEC BALDWIN is in the crosshairs over the fatal shooting of “Rust” cinematographer Halyna Hutchins — and The National ENQUIRER can reveal the actor failed a lie detector test and may be covering up what he really knows about the tragedy! Baldwin, 63, fled New Mexico after firing a live bullet while rehearsing a scene for the low-budget Western, killing Halyna and injuring director Joel Souza. But anyone involved in the shooting, including Baldwin, the film’s armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, and assistant director Dave Halls, could face charges, according to investigators. Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza noted: “I wouldn’t call...

... Live ammunition was allowed onto the set despite the fact that live ammunition is never to be used nor brought onto any studio lot or stage. Alec Baldwin intentionally, without just cause or excuse, cocked and fired the loaded gun even though the upcoming scene to be filmed did not call for the cocking and firing of a firearm. Alec Baldwin intentionally, without just cause or excuse, fired the gun towards individuals, including Plaintiff, Ms. Hutchins, and Mr. Souza, even though protocol was not to do so. The gun was handed to Alec Baldwin by...

... “There was nothing in the script about the gun being discharged by DEFENDANT BALDWIN or by any other person,” the lawsuit from script supervisor Mamie Mitchell says. ... Mitchell’s lawsuit focuses mainly on Baldwin’s actions. It said she was standing next to Hutchins and within 4 feet of the actor, and was stunned when he fired the gun inside the tiny church on Bonanza Creek Ranch on Oct. 21. According to discussions before the scene was filmed, it called for three tight shots of Baldwin: One on his eyes, one on a blood stain on his shoulder, and one...

"Alec Baldwin intentionally, without just cause or excuse, cocked and fired the loaded gun even though the upcoming scene to be filmed did not call for the cocking and firing of a firearm," the lawsuit alleges. According to the lawsuit, script supervisor Mamie Mitchell was standing four feet away when Baldwin fired the Colt .45 revolver and suffered injuries herself.

Alec Baldwin and the crew of Rust have been accused of breaking at least four key movie industry gun safety protocols before the fatal shooting of Halyna Hutchins. Baldwin and his co-workers appear to have violated rules from the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, against pointing a gun at a member of the cast or crew unless absolutely necessary. The alliance's rules - last revised in April 2003 - warn: 'Refrain from pointing the firearm at anyone, including yourself. If it is absolutely necessary to do so on camera, consult the property master or other safety representative... Remember that...

<p>Baldwin’s father, Alexander Rae Baldwin, Jr., who died at the age of 55 in 1983, “was an expert marksman in riflery” who was honorably discharged from the U.S. Marine Corps “for medical reasons after being shot, accidentally, during rifle instruction on Parris Island,” Baldwin wrote in a Father’s Day tribute for the Huffington Post in 2009.</p>

On Oct. 21, the 42-year-old was accidentally shot by Alec Baldwin with a loaded weapon that was handed to the actor by an assistant director who mistakenly believed it was safe to use on the New Mexico set of "Rust." Responders flew the 42-year-old in a helicopter to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. Director Joel Souza was also hit and injured but has since been released from the hospital. On Wednesday, Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza said in a press conference that a lead projectile that was taken from Souza’s shoulder came from the F.LLI Pietta Long...

How you say in English … Just shut up and go away? After parading around Vermont all weekend, staging a bizarre, impromptu roadside press conference and then posting happy-family Halloween portraits on Instagram, Alec Baldwin and his insufferable fraud of a wife eee-LAR-ia have lost any public sympathy they once had. Boom. Gone. All in about a week. “Parenting through this has been an intense experience, to say the least,” Hilaria posted on Halloween night. Really? Hilaria may want to talk to Halyna Hutchins’ widower about what it’s been like parenting their young son “through this intense experience,” his mother...
