August 4, 1962, was Marilyn Monroe’s Deathday. In May 1962, Marilyn Monroe sang her legendary breathy version of "Happy Birthday, Mr President" to JFK at a Democratic Party fundraiser in Madison Square Garden. Two and a half months later, on August 4, at home in Brentwood, Los Angeles, she died. In The Guardian, in 2016, David Thomson described her appearance in May 1962 with these words: "....... (she) stood there, with her massed blonde waves jutting off to one side, like the control on tower (of) an aircraft carrier, in a dress that could have been painted on her. ..........

Joe DiMaggio's birthday today is a great time for me to think about the love of his life and use that feeling to express respect for other women with different talents that I revere. Marilyn was a free spirit. Freedom is at the heart of living a good life. The worse the police state trends in Australia get, the more I love the freedom fighters and the womanly beauty of some of them is no obstacle to making that love and respect stronger. That is how God made us.

Marilyn Monroe’s rear is getting some leers in Connecticut. A 26-foot statue of the iconic actress has been placed in a Stamford park across the street from a church, which is getting a full view of her behind. It depicts the famous scene from 1955’s “The Seven Year Itch” where Monroe holds down her white dress as air blows up from a subway grate. The back of the statue showing her underwear is clearly visible from the front of the First Congregational Church of Stamford.

A collection of more than 100 previously unpublished photos of Marilyn Monroe can be seen for the first time in a new book. 'Marilyn: August 1953', published this week by Calla Editions, features digitally restored black and white images taken during the summer of 1953 of a then 27-year-old Monroe.
