Joe Scarborough praising President Trump? Was it one of those lip-synch spoofs? But no, in a sign of just how profoundly the coronavirus has altered virtually everything, Scarborough today did indeed offer clear, if cautious, praise for President Trump's performance at yesterday's press conference. What a difference a day makes! Yesterday, the Morning Joe crew was insisting that Mike Bloomberg immediately "get out" of the race to clear the field for Biden and prevent a Sanders nomination. Today, after airing Bloomberg's wide-ranging interview with Kasie Hunt, Morning Joe was overflowing with praise for him! "Great interview! Hasn't lost a step! By the time the Morning Joe crowd is finished, there might be no one left in the Democrat field! Over the last week, Scarborough & Co. have been urging Elizabeth Warren and Amy Klobuchar to drop out. But as of Thursday, Morning Joe's got a new target for the get-out treatment: Mike Bloomberg. Scarborough riffed off a poll showing that, with Bloomberg remaining in the race in Texas, Sanders and Biden are tied. But with Bloomberg gone, Biden would have a commanding lead. Take Attorney General Bill Barr's comments to an ABC correspondent that some of the president's tweets make it impossible for him to do his job. The question arises because on today's Morning Joe, Mika strongly suggested that President Trump is blackmailing Lindsey Graham and Marco Rubio. She first wondered out loud what Trump "has on" Graham. She later suggested that the President has dug up "dirt" on Graham and Rubio, and has them "under his thumb," coercing them into saying positive things about him.
