President Obama on Monday signed 20 bills into law, from legislation naming post offices to bills authorizing intelligence spending and increasing penalties for stealing trade secrets for the benefit of foreign entities. Among the new laws are the "North Korean Child Welfare Act of 2012," which requires the State Department to regularly brief Congress on efforts to advocate for North Korean children, and the "Drywall Safety Act of 2012," which would limit sulfur content and establish drywall labeling requirements. Economy: Obama is touting "a new vision of an America in which prosperity is shared." But Obama's been promising to deliver on this "new vision" for years, while his policies have produced the opposite. President Obama's slow ride down Gallup's daily presidential job approval index has finally passed below Jimmy Carter, earning Obama the worst job approval rating of any president at this stage of his term in modern political history. President Obama gave one of the most impassioned speeches of his presidency when he addressed a joint session of Congress on Thursday night. Too bad so many in the audience thought it was a big, fat joke. “You should pass this jobs plan right away!” Obama exhorted. Sens. The latest Pew Research Center national poll released today underscores how slender a beachhead President Obama has established among whites more than two years into his presidency. In his 2008 election, Obama ran well only among two groups of whites -- young people and white women with at least a four year college education, two groups that are generally receptive to government activism.
