The new cards do not include a Social Security number and will help to prevent fraud, reduce identity theft and safeguard taxpayer dollars. What does this mean for you? • You will receive a new Medicare card with a new Medicare number that is NOT based on your Social Security number. Begin using your new card immediately upon receiving it and destroy your old Medicare card.
