Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves (R) is expected set to sign a bill on Thursday banning transgender athletes from competing on girls and women’s sports teams. The legislation calls on K-12 schools, as well as colleges and universities, to designate all sports teams for men and boys, women and girls or “coed.” It states that “Athletic teams or sports designated for ‘females,’ ‘women’ or ‘girls’ shall not be open to students of the male sex.” The bill passed the state’s Senate last month, and Mississippi House lawmakers passed the bill last week. Mayor Annise Parker took a moment on Twitter to bash former Houston Astros star Lance Berkman after he voiced opposition toward the city's equal rights ordinance known as HERO. In late September, Berkman recorded an advertisement for the Campaign for Houston PAC, a group that is opposed to HERO. "My wife and I have four daughters," Berkman says in the ad. More than 20 men — all Chicago lawyers — will slip into stilettos and parade around the Loop on Tuesday in an effort to raise awareness about violence against women. The Chicago Bar Association's Young Lawyers Section is hosting its first Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event with Between Friends, a local nonprofit geared toward ending domestic abuse. The men will walk one mile in their choice of stilettos to draw attention to the bar association's effort to curb violence against women.

New Zealand filmmaker Lee Tamahori, who directed the James Bond movie "Die Another Day," has been arrested in a Hollywood prostitution sting while dressed in drag. Tamahori, 55, was arrested on January 8 when he allegedly sought sex with an undercover policeman while clad in women's clothes, according to a criminal complaint filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court.
