I just read John Kerry's Silver Star citation and almost fell out of my chair. Having served at one time as an "awards and decorations officer", which is an additional duty assignment for staff officers, I know full well how these citations can be colored and worded to change an "oh no!" into a "attaboy." A former secretary of the Navy is urging Sen. John Kerry to open up his personnel files to resolve the question of whether the Democratic presidential nominee received a less-than-honorable discharge from the Navy. William Middendorf, the Navy chief from 1974 to 1977, told WorldNetDaily today that Kerry, who began inactive reserve status in 1972, would have been issued a document three years later either for a reserve reaffiliation or a separation discharge. Did you see the edit I believe NBC did on the Kerry interview? It was with Tom Brokaw and everything I read about the interview said that when questioned about the IQ comparison recently made public, Kerry said " How would they know? I have not released my record." I thought everything concerning Kerry's record was out as stated numerous times by Kerry . But when watching the interview, that portion was edited out. You could tell it was cut out mid senctence. If true, that stinks. What happened to honest journalism.

I am new at this, and can anyone tell me why JFK's military records can not be obtained via the Freedom of Information act? I know that his records are of a personal nature but, once he runs for a public office, especially one as high as President of the United States.
