Whenever the mainstream media awards a participation trophy to the loser of an election, it is sure bet they are awarding it to a Democrat. Such was the case with the June 17 Politico which awarded a participation trophy to Jason Kander who lost the 2016 U.S. Senate race from Missouri. No matter. Sheena Greitens was robbed by multiple people while in her car at a coffee shop parking lot... Greitens, a former Navy SEAL officer, said he is "now, more than ever, focused on the mission of creating safer neighborhoods."

Greitens, a Republican, defeated Democrat Chris Koster with 51 percent of the vote on Tuesday to 45 percent for the state's attorney general. “Tonight, we did more than win an election; we restored power to the people and we took our state back!” Greitens told supporters at a hotel in Chesterfield, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. Greitens, 42, grew up in the Maryland Heights suburb of St. Louis and attended the town’s Reform synagogue. He attended Duke University, where he become a Rhodes scholar.

Washington (CNN)Donald Trump is leading Hillary Clinton by a single percentage point in Missouri, according to a Monmouth University poll released Tuesday. The survey found that 44% of voters support Trump, while 43% back Clinton, well within the poll's margin of error of 4.9 percentage points. Another 8% of respondents told pollsters they intend to vote for Libertarian Gary Johnson, 1% said they would write in another candidate,and the remaining 5% were undecided.

Missouri Democrats face an uphill fight to sustain Gov. Jay Nixon’s veto of a bill eliminating training requirements to carry a concealed firearm. Same goes for another bill Nixon vetoed that would require voters to provide a government-issued photo ID before being allowed to cast a ballot. Complicating their efforts is the fact that their all-but-certain nominee for governor supports both bills. Attorney General Chris Koster, who faces only token opposition in the Aug. 2 Democratic primary to replace term-limited Nixon, said he saw no reason to veto the wide-ranging gun bill.

Donald Trump's political director, Jim Murphy, told House members that the campaign would focus on 17 states this fall, the Wall Street Journal reports. Included are 12 states Barack Obama won in both 2008 and 2012 (145 electoral votes) and five states Mitt Romney won in 2012. Not in the list are extreme longshots like California and New York, states Trump has previously indicated would be competitive for him.

The Missouri GOP held county caucuses two weeks ago to elect delegates to attend the state convention in Branson, Missouri on May 20th and 21st. Donald Trump won Missouri and was awarded 25 delegates to 15 for Ted Cruz. The Cruz people want to make sure their supporters replace Trump delegates to the national convention.
