The Wattman was upgraded with a host of go-fast componentry. A more potent and lighter battery was installed. The motor was juiced to produce 435 hp. The double-wishbone suspension was adjusted for better precision. And perhaps most importantly, the bike was draped in a carefully developed aerodynamic fairing that resembles one half of a VW XL1. Not that it did much for noise mitigation. "It’s very different from when I used to ride noisy bikes, with a thermal engine. Because electric motors make just the little zzzzzzttttt," Biaggi said. "But at speed, the wind creates a really big noise. You...

Rolling Art: The Supermarine is being manufactured on a built-to-order basis - Bandit9 =============================================================================== When we last heard about Vietnamese custom motorcycle builder Bandit9, it was creating a shiny sci-fi scrambler that started out as a 1967 Honda Supersport. Taking its name from the British company that built the Spitfire fighter plane – so no, not too futuristic in that way – the Supermarine is powered by a liquid-cooled, 8-valve, SOHC, 900cc Triumph Twin engine that can be upgraded to 1,200 cc. They may be new to the EV motorcycle manufacturing game, but Danish manufacturer Offset is crashing the party with style and guts. Their new battery-powered cycle, OFR-M1, does what few have tried before by cramming a brawny all-electric drivetrain into a cycle aimed at taking on off-road terrain. While it may weigh in at just 253 pounds (115 kg), this rough and tumble dirtbike can do zero to 62 mph (99 kph) in 4.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 80 mph (128 kph). It does the trick by using a 6.2 kWh battery pack to spin a “radial...
