When CBS News pointed incorrectly to a region in Murcia, Spain when trying to locate La Palma, an island in the Canaries, the internet did its thing. I know, geography can be SO confusing! The Cumbre Vieja volcanic eruption sits on the Iberian Peninsula of Spain, but when CBS gave this report on the catastrophe, they pointed to a region in Murcia, Spain, 2,219 kilometres away. To be fair, a La Palma does exist in the region of Murcia near Cartagena. When speaking about an island, however, it is not too difficult to see the mistake when CBS points to...

A man flouted Spain's coronavirus quarantine rules by taking out the rubbish while dressed as a dinosaur. Police officers stopped the man - who was wearing a tyrannosaurus rex costume - and gave him a warning as he waddled away from a street-side bin where he had just dumped a bag. The bizarre incident in Vistabella, Murcia, happened days into a government-imposed lockdown to stop the spread of coronavirus. Residents and tourists alike are banned from going outside except to buy food, go to work or get medical help for 15 days.

A third mysterious black space object to fall from the sky into rural Spain has caused panic among locals. The strange-looking black orb was found in the village of Villavieja in Murcia - becoming the latest instance of an increasingly bewildering phenomenon, the Olive Press reported. It's not yet known what the objects are, though theories range from UFOs to pieces of space debris. The first instance of the strange phenomenon occurred one week ago, when Spanish goat farmers discovered the strange object, which bears a striking resemblance to the Star Wars torture device, the IT-O Interrogator, in Calasparra, Murcia....

During August 2014, researchers from the Department of Prehistory, at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, made some spectacular discoveries at the Spanish site of La Almoloya, located in Pliego, Murcia. The site represents the cradle of the Bronze Age "El Argar" civilisation, who dominated the south-eastern part of the Iberian Peninsula. La Almoloya, discovered in 1944 by Emeterio Cuadrado and Juan de la Cierva, is located on a steep sided plateau and dominated an extensive region for over six centuries (from 2,200 to 1,550 BC)... The stone walls of the buildings were covered with layers of mortar, and some areas...
