IREY: JUST WHY DID JACK MURTHA VOTE AGAINST THE PATRIOT ACT, ANYWAY? Friday, August 11, 2006 (MONONGAHELA, August 11) -- Washington County Commissioner and Pennsylvania 12th district Republican Congressional nominee Diana Irey -- responding to the arrest in the UK of 24 alleged terrorists, and the arrest in Pakistan of another seven, including at least one who is reported to be a member of al Qaeda -- today released the following statement: "As I said yesterday, the arrests in the United Kingdom -- and last week's and yesterday's arrests in Pakistan -- represent a significant victory in the ongoing war...

THE MEDIA COVERAGE of the killing of 24 Iraqis at Haditha has given rich new definition to the phrase "rush to judgment." The coverage, plus the reaction of antiwar politicians like Democratic representative John Murtha, amounts to a public verdict of guilty, rendered against a handful of Marines, before an investigation of the bloody incident is completed or a trial (if there is one) held. An egregious example was MSNBC host Chris Matthews's interview with Murtha on May 17. Asked to "draw us a picture of what happened in Haditha," the congressman said he'd tell "exactly" what occurred. "One Marine...
  • No Haditha Cover Up. (Vanity, can't confirm yet)

Heard on Fox that Pentagon sources have concluded there was no cover up in Haditha contrary to Murtha's claim. Still waiting on web posting or something. Last I heard is that relatives have refused to allow the bodies to be exhumed which combined with no cover up, if true, would make it near impossible for the Marines to be charged with murder. If the military thought murder charges were going to be brought they would confine the Marines pending court martial.
  • Gains in Iraq show folly of 'redeploying' the troops ANOTHER VIEW [besides Jack Murtha's]

......[t]here's a link on the congressman's Web site documenting Murtha's leadership against the errancy of Bush's ''failed'' Iraq policies. It's titled, ''Jack's Stance on Iraq.'' Clicking on the link allows you to peruse no less than 14 of congressman Murtha's press releases, where he lists in detail everything that he finds wrong with the way George W. Bush and company are handling the war in Iraq. Murtha also lays out his own strategies, including the ''redeployment'' of America's troops, because, as the retired colonel stated on May 18, ''We have done everything we can do militarily in Iraq.'' The 15th...
  • Murtha To Run For Marjority Leader if Dems Take House

While Pennsylvania Democratic Congressman John Murtha has ascended to the national stage as one of the most vocal critics of President Bush's handling of the war in Iraq, he has also long downplayed the controversy and bitterness surrounding the two Purple Hearts he was awarded for military service in Vietnam. Murtha is a retired marine and was the first Vietnam combat veteran elected to Congress. Since 1967, there have been at least three different accounts of the injuries that purportedly earned Murtha his Purple Hearts. Those accounts also appear to conflict with the limited military records that are available, and...

Veterans can now show their support for Diana Irey, running in the 12th PA District against John Murtha. They can sign up on the web site Vets4Irey.com It has been reported that Murtha has made many comments about the Iraqi situation to include: "there's no progress at all", "it's worse than it was prewar", "we should immediately redeploy", "War cannot be won on the ground", "I have said it's a civil war", "We cannot win this militarily. Our tactics themselves keep us from winning," These have all undermined our military's efforts in Iraq and tend to demoralize our troops....
