The Houston PD's Chief, Troy Finner, just confirmed what we'd been told ... namely, that at least one person had been injected with something via needle -- and there well may have been more. Chief Finner said a security guard working the event felt a prick in his neck by an unknown assailant while he was trying to restrain a citizen -- and he quickly fell unconscious. Finner says the guard was revived by use of NARCAN ... and that medical personnel did, indeed, see something on his neck that indicated he'd been stabbed with a syringe.

When first responders arrived, police said they revived the 57-year-old woman with Narcan -- a drug that instantly reverses the effects of overdose from heroin and other opioids. The students, ages 5 to 13, were not injured, police said. Byrd, who was taken to a local hospital, is facing 12 charges of...

Opioid overdoses continue to claim more lives every year, and schools across the country are not turning a blind eye. The mortality rate of children and adolescents due to prescription and illicit opioid overdoses nearly tripled between 1999 and 2016, according to a recent report published by JAMA Network Open. Some high schools, middle schools and even elementary schools have started stocking opioid overdose antidote Narcan. “We do know that there's an increase in use by students. Unfortunately, it seems like it might be trending younger a little bit in some cases, which is obviously a concern, not just for...
