Jesse Watters said Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's reported warning to her moderate colleagues could signal a looming "catastrophe" for the Democratic Party. After more than two dozen moderate Democrats broke from their party's progressive wing and sided with Republicans on a legislative amendment Wednesday, Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) reportedly sounded the alarm in a closed-door meeting Thursday and said those Democrats were ("putting themselves on a list.") Ocasio-Cortez reportedly said she would help progressive activists unseat those moderates in their districts in the 2020 elections.

GOP Senate hopeful Kathleen Troia "KT" McFarland said yesterday her father threatened her with a gun "on a couple of occasions" when she was a child - and wondered whether recent revelations about her past made it impossible for her to continue to run. McFarland said that news accounts about her upbringing, and how parental abuse may have contributed to her brother's death from AIDS in 1995, was "another form of abuse" - leaving her to wonder if she should abandon her quest to unseat Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton.

WASHINGTON (AP) - The percentage of Americans who believe Islam is more likely than other religions to inspire violence has declined in the past two years, according to a poll taken after the London bombings. Just over a third, 36 percent, now say the Islamic religion is more likely to inspire violence, while 44 percent said that in July 2003, according to the poll conducted by the Pew Research Center and the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life. "This may have to do with some backing off of negative opinions the American public had of Muslims in 2002 and...

I just read the most ridiculous bit of serious non-fiction to have crossed my mailbox in quite some time (not subscribing to the New Yorker, I am spared Seymour Hersh). Bernard-Henri Lévy, the French uber- (or, hyper- it would be in Gallic) intellectual, drove across America in an attempt to recreate his countryman Alexis de Tocqueville's journey. Then he wrote about it in the pages of the Atlantic Monthly, and wrote, and wrote, and wrote for 35 pages that seemed 135, and promises to continue writing for "several" articles. Lord -- or whomever the gleefully atheistic (he wastes no opportunity...

A 29-year-old Connecticut woman pleaded not guilty yesterday to charges she had a sexual relationship with an 8-year-old boy who was her daughter's playmate. Tammy Imre, a part-time receptionist, is charged with first-degree sexual assault, fourth-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor. She remains held on a $250,000 bond. If convicted, Imre, of Stratford, could serve more than 20 years in prison. She requested a trial by jury. [snip] Defense attorney Don Papcsi said a psychological evaluation for his client, who has no criminal record, is likely. He said Imre has her own version of events....

(CBS/AP) A terrorist-related threat against the United States Embassy in Saudi Arabia prompted the ambassador there to order non-essential staff and their families out of the country, a State Department official said Thursday. CBS News Reporter Charles Wolfson says senior officials in Washington have yet to decide on the request by Ambassador James Oberwetter. The terror warning was only the latest in a string of alerts issued by Western governments to citizens living or visiting in Saudi Arabia, which is in a precarious position in the war on terrorism. It is a close U.S. ally, but also was home to...
