Free Republic will be down all night tonight for migration. Will be going down at 8:00 pm (Pacific) and should up again within about 12 hours. Sorry, can't be helped. We received notice from our provider that they were closing their San Jose data center on May 15, 2021 and that we could move our equipment to their new center when it's ready. We thought we'd have months to prepare, but they recently moved the deadline up to Nov 15 (tomorrow). John scrambled and has a new home set up for us and is going to get a clean backup...

The National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Ky., has long been a mini-Mecca for fans of America's most hallowed sports car. Early this morning, that museum suffered the catastrophe shown above, when a sinkhole in the Sky Dome opened up and swallowed eight rare Vettes, including two that belonged to General Motors. According to museum officials, the sinkhole began around 5:30 a.m. while the museum was closed, and within minutes had grown to about 40 feet wide and 25 to 30 feet deep. No one was injured, but the list of Corvettes spelunking in the hole includes two on loan...

Mike Huckabee said Sunday he's the strongest Republican to take on President Obama in 2012. "I end up leading a lot of the polls," the former Arkansas governor told "Fox News Sunday." "I’m the Republican that clearly at this point does better against Obama than any other Republican." Huckabee said he hasn't made up his mind about running, but suggested he's strongly considering it. “I haven’t closed the door. I think that would be foolish on my part, especially when poll after poll shows that there is strong sentiment out there," he said.
  • Limbaugh Intentionally Throwing November Election to Hillary? (Real Reason He Wants Her to Stay in?)

There seems to be an inherent inconsistency in how radio host Rush Limbaugh is analyzing Hillary Clinton's chances for election. On his radio show, he is urging his listeners to vote for her in tomorrow's primaries. Limbaugh claims to be doing this because he thinks that the longer Clinton stays in the race, the more she'll damage Obama and the party, thereby increasing the chances of a Republican victory in November. This, however, is contradicted by his statements about how resilient a candidate Mrs. Clinton would be. For example, today he stated that "these Clintons are like cockroaches. They'll be the last...

Despite NASA’s decision to keep its Crew Exploration Vehicle (CEV) and Ares 1 and Ares 5 launchers solely US systems, it is considering international co-operation for the lunar lander. The US agency is currently discussing a global exploration strategy with other agencies, such as the European Space Agency. Following a workshop in April there is a synthesis team working on an international architecture for exploring the Moon and Mars. NASA is determining what its Constellation programme will do and what international partners can do. “If internationals came up with a lander, that’s good,” said NASA Constellation programme manager, Jeffrey Hanley,...
