The San Diego Chargers will file for relocation to Los Angeles when the NFL opens the application window in January, Mark Fabiani told The Mighty 1090 AM radio show. “At this point yes, because there's no sign that the other team or teams are not going to file,” said Fabiani, who serves as the Chargers’ special counsel. “Everyone assumes all three teams will file, and in that case we can't afford to lose our market in Los Angeles and Orange County.”
  • L.A. relocation could set up clash of titans among NFL owners

The NFL's meandering road back to the nation's second-largest market wound through Chicago on Tuesday, with team owners hearing the competing Los Angeles stadium pitches for the first time. A league that goes to great lengths to avoid pitting owner against owner — revenue sharing, salary cap, and cross-ownership rules that preclude owners from fighting over the sports dollar in the same cities — is now bracing for a clash of the titans. "I guess you could use the metaphor of musical chairs, and there's a bit of that going on," said Steve Tisch, co-owner of the New York Giants...

Fort Myers city manager (a Black man)sent a letter to the mayor Friday notifying him of Baker’s termination after Allen’s controversial arrest in February.

The Raiders went above and beyond for the family of 4-year-old Ava Urrera -- especially offensive lineman Menelik Watson. I can't quite say I've ever heard anything like the story of the Oakland Raiders and 4-year-old Ava Urrera of Las Vegas, which Jay Glazer just told on Fox's NFL Sunday pregame show. Urrera has a heart condition Glazer described as equivalent to having "half a heart," and this post indicates doctors aren't too hopeful. Glazer had told the Raiders about her story, and they put together an amazing experience for her and her family: they made her captain for a day,...

Until we have some actual progress involving an NFL team moving to Los Angeles, maybe it's best to stop the breathless speculation about which teams will move there. There won't be a team moving to Los Angeles in 2015. ESPN.com's Adam Schefter said commissioner Roger Goodell told the Oakland Raiders, San Diego Chargers and St. Louis Rams – the three hottest candidates to move to L.A. if that ever happened – that there will be no team in Los Angeles next season.

To save time and syllables, we’re going journo-green today. Thus “common sense” will be replaced by “it,” as in “getting it.” And that’s the point: “it” doesn’t matter, not anymore. It doesn’t matter that the absurd, the grossly inaccurate and the just plain stupid easily can be eliminated. It is what it is. And that’s it. There will be no deviation from, let alone elimination of, the ridiculous, no matter how self-evident.

Rams players including Stedman Bailey, Jared Cook, Chris Givens and receivers Tavon Austin and Kenny Britt took to the field with their hands up. The “hands up, don’t shoot” sign has been a hallmark of protesters since the August 9th shooting. The St. Louis Rams are playing the Oakland Raiders. The hometown team is leading 44-0 in the 4th quarter. The gesture made another appearance after a touchdown in the first quarter.

Lacy T. accused the Raiders in a lawsuit Wednesday of failing to pay the Raiderettes minimum wages for the work they do, both on the sidelines and in the community for charity. The team also sticks them with travel costs and levies "fines" that eat into their meager salary, she said. She filed her lawsuit in Alameda County Superior Court as a proposed class action on behalf of 40 current Raiderettes and other members of the squad over the past four years. And she said she hopes other NFL cheerleaders will join the fray.

OAKLAND (CA)--Oakland Raiders football practice was delayed nearly two hours today after a player reported finding an unknown white powdery substance on the practice field. Head coach Art Shell immediately suspended practice and called the police and federal investigators. After a complete analysis, FBI forensic experts determined that the white substance unknown to players was the GOAL LINE. Practice resumed after special agents decided the team was unlikely to encounter the substance again this season.

However, it lost its critical advantage of scale when Northwest merged with Delta (NYSE: DAL) and Continental merged with United (NYSE:...

JaMarcus Russell's return to greatness isn't going as well as planned. The former No. 1 pick of the Oakland Raiders, famous for wearing mink coats and taxing a heavy toll on the team's bench, needs to find a job soon. Foreclosure proceedings have started on Russell's Oakland mansion, according to TMZ. If the former LSU star can't come up with $195,512.05 in backed mortgage payments in the next three months, his house will be auctioned off. Russell purchased the house in 2007 for $3 million before he even signed his contract with the Raiders. The 5,800-square-foot has six bedrooms, six...

Russell returned to his native Alabama after being released by the Raiders in 2009. His attempts to return to the NFL have been slowed down by charges that Russell was illegally sipping "purple drank." The Raiders signed Russell to a six-year contract worth up to $68 million, with $31.5 million guaranteed. But in true Al Davis fashion, the team is trying to recuperate some of that signing bonus.
