AVOYELLES PARISH, La. — Two police officers and a Louisiana State Police trooper were shot Thursday afternoon in Avoyelles Parish, according to local reports. The shooting was reported in Moreauville near Avoyelles High School. Officials confirmed to KALB-TV that a state trooper, a Marksville police officer and a Simmesport police officer were shot after an apparent car chase in Hessmer. MARKSVILLE -- A jury has been picked in the trial for one of two Louisiana law-enforcement officers charged with murder in a 6-year-old boy's shooting death. Twelve jurors and two alternates are scheduled to hear attorneys' opening statements on Monday (March 20) for Derrick Stafford's trial. The Town Talk reports that jury selection ended Friday.
