Naturally, dogs are protective of things they consider theirs such as their food, toys, and shelter. Once they get adopted by a human they consider them family and become protective of them and their children. That's where the saying "dogs are family" comes in, and the three videos in this article just prove that.

A viral video shows the hilarious moment a dog named Cowboy swept his owner's legs from under her after engaging in the zoomies. In the video, the dog is seen running around before inadvertently sweeping his human mom's legs from behind, causing both of them to fall dramatically.

No wonder so many people are moving to Florida, some say it's an Urban Legend others say it's the real thing, my first reaction was LOOFAHS, really ?? For years I've heard the Villages in Florida is a retirement community where anything goes for those inclined to partake, evidently now the swingers have a system to indicate who and what they are into. Personally, I may never buy a loofah again.

A remarkable video out of Utah shows what appears to be a sizeable creature crossing the peak of a snow-covered mountain with ease and some suspect that the peculiar traveler could be Bigfoot. The wild footage was reportedly captured last Wednesday by a witness who was observing the Wasatch Mountain range from the nearby community of Farmington. To his surprise, he noticed and something moving across the mountain's Francis Peak at an elevation of around 9,500 feet, where the terrain was covered with a thick layer of snow, and proceeded to film the strange scene with his cell phone. While...

Updated February 16, 2023 at 1:04 PM ET The derailment of a train carrying hazardous materials near a town in Ohio earlier this month has prompted environmental concerns and chemical fears for residents — even as state officials work to reassure them. "From the very start of this, we have taken every step possible to assure that people's safety was first and foremost," Dr. Bruce Vanderhoff, the director of the Ohio Department of Health, said at a Tuesday press conference. And as authorities work to assess the damage and investigate the derailment, more information has emerged this week about the...

There’s no greater joy for dog owners than to see their canines happy with wagging tails. When the Dogs Of Instagram account launched a "Happiest Dogs on Earth" photo contest in January this year and asked dog owners to submit photos or videos of their pups living their best life, the results were extremely uplifting.

The completion of the Fern Hollow Bridge construction in under a year and at a cost of $25 million is truly a feat that should be applauded by one and all. But it also points out the utter failure of our government to function on an expeditious and cost-conscious manner daily (“Editorial: Fern Hollow failure,” Jan. 29). Tom Wolf declared at the bridge opening ceremony, “This is the power of government that works for the people.” “Under normal circumstances this bridge would have taken 5 years to complete,” said Kate Thomson of the United States Department of Transportation. “This is...

WASHINGTON (AP) — Search for the word “climate” on Twitter and the first automatic recommendation isn’t “climate crisis” or “climate jobs” or even “climate change” but instead “climate scam.” Clicking on the recommendation yields dozens of posts denying the reality of climate change and making misleading claims about efforts to mitigate it. Such misinformation has flourished on Twitter since it was bought by Elon Musk last year, but the site isn’t the only one promoting content that scientists and environmental advocates say undercuts public support for policies intended to respond to a changing climate. “What’s happening in the information ecosystem...

Local beavers are helping Ukraine defend itself from a potential new front in Russia's invasion, Reuters reported on Thursday. The animals are unwittingly helping Kyiv by building dams that keep the ground marshy and impassable, a military spokesman told the agency. This helps Ukraine by making it less likely that an attack could come via Belarus, which borders Ukraine not far north of the capital Kyiv...

FReepers may recall some discussions of a case in Moab, UT around the time of the Gabby Petito murder investigation. Details in the link.
  • Regimenting the Body and Destroying the Soul—the Ugly Legacy of Brutalism

    01/02/2023 6:50:50 PM PST · by Tolerance Sucks Rocks · 16 replies
Modernists like to manipulate words, often “spinning” them into meanings that appear simple but are relatively obscure. For example, consider the modern misuse of the terms like “accompaniment,” “social justice,” or even “woke.” Such is not the case with the architectural style known as “brutalism.” The Architecture of Despair Merriam-Webster defines brutal using the words cold, harsh, severe, unpleasant and lacking sensitivity. A bit further down the page, it refers to brutalism as “a style in art and especially architecture using exaggeration and distortion to create its effect (as of massiveness or power).” While many might not be familiar with...

Over 20 years ago in 1996, I was driving to Phoenix, Arizona to catch a flight to Wisconsin. I had the radio on. The news was reporting a horrific bear attack on Mount Lemmon, near Tucson, Arizona. A teenage girl had been badly mauled by a bear, in her tent, as part of a 4-H outing. A camp counselor had accessed a handgun and shot the bear, driving it off. As the hours rolled along, the AP stories started getting more vague and the story less heroic. The Internet wasn't well developed in 1996. It took me several years to...

Should we be concerned by all of the volcanic activity that we are witnessing all over the planet right now? According to Volcano Discovery, 27 different volcanoes are erupting at this moment and many others are showing signs of waking up. Of course, this comes at a time when we are also seeing lots of unusual earthquakes around the globe. I have been regularly warning my readers about the instability of our planet, and it appears that seismic activity is beginning to spike as we approach the end of 2022. So will this trend continue once we get into 2023?...
