ARLINGTON (Army News Service, Aug. 14, 2006) – The Army has launched two new podcasts to its lineup: “Army Today” and “Soldiers’ Forum.” “Army Today” is a daily, two-minute audio-visual feature produced by Soldiers Radio and Television. “Soldiers’ Forum” is a weekly product through which Sgt. Major of the Army Kenneth Preston addresses issues concerning enlisted Soldiers. “This is a great way to keep Soldiers in the U.S., and those deployed to some 120 countries, informed on issues affecting them,” Preston said. “So far, we’ve produced spots on motorcycle safety, the BOSS program and the Wounded Warrior Program.” Soldiers unfamiliar...
  • Wanted: Great Christian sermons to (legally) download

    11/05/2003 5:15:13 PM PST · by Joe Republc · 60 replies · 8,537+ views
Over the last year, I've really gotten a lot out of Christian radio, which I didn't even know existed before. I listen to the BOT (spelling?) radio network, which has Dr. Dobson, James MacDonald, John McCarther, and others. Recently, I've been very pleased to also discover that two of my favorite Christian speakers leave recorded audio available for free download. http://www.walkintheword.com/asp/broadcast.asp James MacDonald http://resources.christianity.com/rzim/ Ravi Zacharias I download these MP3s, and play them back in the car. Anyway, I was hoping other Christians have other suggestions for free (and legal) downloads from great speakers. Peace to you, -- Joe

We podcast the entire radio program without commercials each afternoon. You can get it automatically downloaded to your computer with our free media center software. You can download it manually from the website if you wish, and at the same time that download comes automatically, the video podcast, video of the next Morning Update, is included in the package. Well, since we started this, many people have said, "How come you just don't make it available in...

Pastor Preaches iPod TheologyPOSTED: 1:24 pm EST January 16, 2006 HOUSTON -- A Houston pastor hopes that preaching about iPods can help attract a younger audience and grow his congregation to 20,000 members. Metropolitan Baptist Church Pastor Sal Sberna held the second of four sermons on what he calls "iPod Theology." He preaches that the simplicity of the device contains a religious lesson -- life can also be simple. Sberna owns two iPods and wants everyone in his congregation of 4,000 to own one. That way, he said, can ultimately offer his sermons through Podcasts.

Podcasting's Potential, Beyond Two-Fer Thursday {-- S N I P --} Amid the general anxiety that afflicts both the broadcast radio industry and other old-line media companies, the podcast -- an audio program that you pull off the Internet and download onto an iPod or similar device for listening at your leisure -- seems as big a threat to radio as the Web poses to print media. {-- S N I P --} Cody Hanson's "Vinyl Podcast" features out-of-print music -- novelty songs he finds at sales of old record collections. One show features a song called "Pork Butts" by...

...A podcast, as anyone under 25 can tell you, is an audio recording posted online, much like a short radio show. ("Podcasting" is a pun on "broadcasting," implying, of course, that you listen to it on your iPod or another music player.) The beauty of a podcast is that it's free and you listen to it whenever you like. And there are more than 7,000 podcasts "on the air" right now, on every conceivable topic. Their quantity and variety already dwarf what you can find on regular radio. What makes podcasting a national dinnertime conversation these days, though, is...
  • WSJ: Podcasting for Dummies - Apple's iTunes Adds Internet Audio Programs, Boosting Technology

Podcasting is taking a step into the mainstream. Apple Computer Inc. yesterday introduced a version of its popular iTunes music software that includes a directory making it easier to find and listen to podcasts -- radio shows and other audio programs posted on the Internet for anyone to download. Many podcasts are produced by individuals, on a range of quirky subjects, but it hasn't always been easy finding the tens of thousands of available programs and downloading them to digital-audio players. The new directory -- a sort of TV Guide for Internet audio programs -- also makes it easier to...

New York—In what seemed to be a shrewd podcast move by conservative political hack, Rush Limbaugh, now appears isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Even though the podcast is reportedly delivering audio content to iPods and other portable media players on demand, so users can listen to the talk or music whenever they want to, there is trouble brewing at the EIB studios. It is said that the podcast essentially can turn anyone with the right equipment into a personal radio station, and according to Limbaugh, is spreading rapidly because of the growing popularity of MP3 players and the...

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - As millions of pilgrims streamed into Rome this past week, Internet listeners accompanied a Dutch priest on an intimate audio tour to pay one last visit to Pope John Paul II before he was laid to rest. Father Roderick Vonhogen brought the Catholic Church's ancient rites to life through a cutting-edge format: the podcast, a radio-style show that is distributed over the Internet. Podcasts have caught on like wildfire since they first emerged nine months ago. Listeners can pick from roughly 10,000 shows on topics ranging from religion to wine to technology, and media companies and advertisers...
