Invitation to conservatives poets/writers: I have a new section on my website called "Today's Feature," where I will be posting poetry (for starters), a new piece every day. Some of my own work will appear there, but I also would like to highlight the work of other contributers. Please check out my blog page to read up on how to submit. As I state there, my mission in this is to help conservatives take back the arts, so please feel free to send me anything that you think others might enjoy. I will be fair in selecting the best and will respond to all...

Hello everyone, As some of you know, we lost our younger daughter on January 15,2004 due to complications of Crohn's Disease. I have known since then that I was going to have a mission of some sort. I belong to a support group on the internet. I have been reading the many letters of despair, of people loosing faith in God due to the loss of a child, and of people all over the country simply needing help. There was one message that really touched me and I knew right then that I had to do something to help these...

My Dragon Fly and Me If I could be a Dragon Fly and wing my way through the sky I would never be shy just me and my Dragon Fly! By moonlight we ride the wind chase the comets tail for fun by day we would hide from the sun our fragile wings would come undone On darkest nights we would use fireflies as our guides we would dip and we would glide through the heavens open wide and scatter diamonds in the night sky my Dragon Fly and I... And we would wing past our lovers silent in...

Eleven thousand soldiers lay beneath the dirt and stone, all buried on a distant land so far away from home. For just a strip of dismal beach they paid a hero's price, to save a foreign nation they all made the sacrifice. And now the shores of Normandy are lined with blocks of white, Americans who didn't turn from someone else's plight. Eleven thousand reasons for the French to take our side, but in the moment of our need, they chose to run and hide. Chirac said every war means loss, perhaps for France that's true, for they've lost...

There are a few of the old threads from the past, that are just to good to leave in mothballs, I hope you agree; Freepers are lovers Too!**Happy Valentine's Day** There are days that are so very special, that we should stop and take stock of the marvelous life and times that we live, and the wonderful people with whom we chose to share our lives. This day has been set aside just for each of us to confirm and express the absolute love and joy that we feel for our loved ones, without whom life would be so shallow and...

The White House's postponment of a literary symposium it believe was becoming politicized led two former U.S. poets lauerate to characterize the decision as an example of the Bush Administations hostility to dissenting voices.'I think there was a general feeling that the current Administration is not really a friend of the poetic community and that its program of attacking Iraq is contrary to the humanatarian position that is at the center of the poetic impulse,' Stanley Kunitz the 2000-2001 poet lauerate, said Thursday. In a statement, Rita Dove, who served a poet lauerate from 1993 to 1995 said the postponement confirmed...

Mortal Pestle The sweating palms of parched and idol lands Are dropping dates in living dead oases... Obituaries, nameless as the sands... The agar augurs ill… of grave embraces... The headwaters of Eden flow through wastes, Beneath whose ruined remnants of our dawning, And under palaces of tyrant tastes, A pestilence is nursed… and plagues are spawning. For yawning like the ancient, leprous skull, That swallows all the kin of those first spouses Into its void, for better or for null-- The wakened pox descends on sleeping houses. A mortal pestle grinds tomorrow's fate, As sorrows issue from the...

A Little Girl's Poem Her hair was up in a ponytail Her favorite dress tied with a bow. Today was Daddy's Day at school, And she couldn't wait to go. But her mommy tried to tell her, That she probably should stay home. Why the kids might not understand, If she went to school alone. But she was not afraid; She knew just what to say. What to tell her classmates Of why he wasn't there today. But still her mother worried, For her to face this day alone. And that was why once again, She tried to keep her...
