Most American adults say that the meeting between President Donald Trump and North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un was a good idea, according to a Monmouth poll released Thursday. The seven-in-10 who say it's a good idea is up from 63% in late April, including 93% of Republicans, 74% of independents, and 49% of Democrats. Only 20% say it was a bad idea. The recent poll also shows 46% disapprove of the job Trump is doing as President, perhaps a side effect of the good feelings people have about his efforts on North Korea. The last time Trump's number for...

. Democrats hold a nine-point lead over Republicans on the generic House ballot, according to a Fox News poll released Thursday. According to the survey, 48 percent of voters preferred the Democratic candidate in their House district, compared to 39 percent who preferred the Republican candidate. That nine-point lead is up from the five-point lead Democrats held in March, the last time Fox News surveyed voters on the matter. The Fox News survey comes as welcome news for Democrats as they seek to regain control of the House in November's midterm elections.

Almost three-fourths of American voters approve of President Trump’s planned summit with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday. The poll found that 72 percent of voters approve of the summit, compared to just 21 percent who oppose it. 52 percent of voters also approve of the president’s general handling of U.S. policy toward North Korea, and 49 percent have confidence in Trump to handle negotiations with North Korea. Hopes for the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula are not as high, however, with only 20 percent of voters confident the North “will ever...

The Republican Party is Donald Trump's party. If there were any doubts about this, recent polling - which shows the president with near record levels of backing from Republican voters - confirms the fact. According to a recent Gallup Poll, Mr Trump's support among members of his own party at the 500-day mark of his presidency sits at 87%, second only to George W Bush's 96%, which came nine months after the September 11 World Trade Center attacks. A handful of other presidents since the survey started after World War II - George HW Bush, John F Kennedy, Dwight D...

When millennials are polled, we see how badly history is taught. We write frequently about the carnage and chaos wrought by communism and socialism because somebody has to. "The University of Chicago’s GenForward Survey of Americans ages 18 to 34 finds that 62 percent think 'we need a strong government to handle today’s complex economic problems,' with just 35 percent saying 'the free market can handle these problems without government being involved,'" Steve Chapman writes in Reason magazine. "Overall, 49 percent in this group hold a favorable opinion of capitalism—and 45 percent have a positive view of socialism." "Socialism gets...

RealClearPolitics, which keeps track of polling averages, has some worrying news for Democrats and liberals who were counting on a “blue wave” to sweep them in to power in Congress this November. Since the beginning of this year, more or less, a clear trend has emerged: President Trump's approval rating has gradually risen, while Democrats' lead on the “generic ballot” question in national polls (that asks whether respondents would be more likely to vote for a Democratic or Republican candidate for Congress) has been steadily shrinking. To bring these numbers into sharper perspective, Trump's average approval rating hit a low...
  • Commentary: America's military and Donald Trump

Memorial Day, as veterans are quick to point out, is a day to remember America's fallen warriors—not the former ones. (That's Veteran's Day). But it turns out America's military has quite a bit to celebrate this year—in large part thanks to President Trump. When Donald Trump first took office, "Americans really didn't know if this guy was going to get us into a war," says Real Clear Politics pollster Sean Trende. "There was real worry about how risky it was to elect him president." Among military hawks, the concern was Trump's "America First" rhetoric leading to U.S. withdrawal from the...
  • Gun control support fades three months after Florida massacre:

The Parkland, Florida, school massacre has had little lasting impact on U.S. views on gun control, three months after the shooting deaths of 17 people propelled a national movement by some student survivors, a Reuters/Ipsos poll showed on Wednesday. While U.S. public support for more gun control measures has grown slowly but steadily over the years, it typically spikes immediately after the mass shootings that have become part of the U.S. landscape, then falls back to pre-massacre levels within a few months.

For the first time in at least two years, a major pollster has Democrats trailing in the midterms — at least for a day. When last we looked at the Reuters tracking poll, Democrats’ lead in the generic congressional ballot question had dwindled down to a single point. Yesterday, their five-day rolling average finally crossed the red Rubicon, as this graphic from polling editor Chris Kahn demonstrates, following up with another look at the same data today: Not just “as likely,” but slightly more likely, 38.1% to 36.7%. According to RealClearPolitics aggregation, it would be the first time that any...

Nearly 2 in 3 Americans think the nation’s economy is in good shape, and most of them believe President’s Trump’s policies are at least somewhat responsible for that. More Republicans rate the economy positively than do Democrats. As Congressional primaries continue and Americans look ahead six months to their midterm votes, Mr. Trump looks like a positive factor among Republicans, 7 in 10 of whom say they’d prefer a candidate he backs — but the president’s influence is limited to his own party. More Independents say they’re less likely to support a candidate backed by Mr. Trump. Meanwhile on the...

Monday, the Washington Post surveyed a new book, a memo, and a detailed report for the Post itself, all of which take a look at swing voting patterns in parts of the country that went for President Obama in 2008 and 2012 and then shifted to President Trump in 2016. The Post attempts to synthesize the findings of all three items and concludes that people in these parts of the country feel a lack of respect both for themselves and for the president they voted for: Democratic pollster Stan Greenberg, who helped orchestrate Bill Clinton’s 1992 victory, has obsessively studied...

In fact, since the start of this year, the percentage of Americans looking on their nation’s leader favorably has risen steadily. This has caused liberals no small amount of consternation. But in a new analysis of voters’ attitudes toward Trump — derived from more than a million interviews with voters in all 50 states — SurveyMonkey offers the most satisfying explanation of the president’s improving fortunes to date, while also putting Trump’s rebound in edifying perspective. Here’s a quick rundown of the pollster’s findings: How Trump has really been performing: Trump’s approval numbers are more remarkable for their stability than...

Democrats stand to make gains in the upcoming midterm elections -- but their cockiness about winning sweeping victories has reportedly become more restrained in recent days, thanks to tightening generic ballot polling and improved presidential approval numbers.  CNN's newest national survey shows most Americans are pleased with the general state of the country, with Democrats' 2018 advantage down to just three points (as opposed to 16 points in the same series several months ago).  Reuters' national data shows Democrats' lead whittled down to one measly point, well within the margin of error.  At the beginning of the year, 'Chuck and...

The Trump administration on Monday celebrated moving the U.S. Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to the capital city of Jerusalem. But ever since the move was announced in December, it has been condemned in the Middle East and around the world. The Arab League called the embassy relocation a “blatant attack on the feelings of Arabs and Muslims” and a “grave violation of the rules of international law” that could destabilize the region. British Prime Minister Theresa May said, “We disagree with the U.S. decision to move its embassy to Jerusalem and recognize Jerusalem as the Israeli capital before...

After Tuesday's West Virginia primary, red-state Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin is now trailing Republican Attorney General Patrick Morrisey by two points in his re-election race, according to a new poll conducted by WPA intelligence. Why it matters: That's within the margin of error, but the poll is a sign that the GOP has improved its chances of defeating Manchin since Don Blankenship lost the primary this week. Manchin is in an especially vulnerable position given that President Trump won West Virginia by 42 points 2016. Meanwhile, several Republican leaders and outside groups are looking to West Virginia as a sign...

If black support for Trump gets into double figures, the Democratic Party will have to look for different themes than Russia, Stormy Daniels, and other such nonsense. The latest YouGov/Economist poll (May 6-8), one of a few that comprehensively breaks down support by ethnicity, has some frightening news for the Democratic Party. While President Trump’s approval holds steady among registered voters at 41 percent, his support among blacks in this poll is striking. If it holds for 2020, it could be devastating for Democrats. Among African-Americans, 16 percent approve of Trump, 10 percent are not sure, and 75 percent disapprove....

United States presidential candidate John McCain now retains a lead over Barack Obama in several polls conducted in the past few days. Both Zogby International and Rasmussen Reports have McCain with a slight, but not statistically significant lead. The most recent Gallup tracking poll has McCain with a statistical lead of 5.0 percent. The Day to Day Politics Poll Average also has a slight, but not statistically significantly lead of 0.4% for McCain. Obama had a 6.0 percent lead in the Day to Day Politics Poll Average after the Democratic National Convention, but now is trailing after the Republican National...

Actually the "Trumpies" did fine last evening producing three strong Trump/Conservative senate candidates to run against Democrats losers, Joe Manchin, Sherrod Brown & Joe Donnelley. Brown & Donnelley will lose their seats and Joe Manchin is hanging on the edge of defeat. As for Fake News & Polls...it was getting their egg in face time last, as they once again lied to West Virginia voters, in an attempt to get Blankenship elected as the primary winner. Poor Blanky finished in the basement, dead last. Folks...you can toss all mainstream polls into your garbage bin..period. As for the hyped, oncoming Democrat...

A Gallup poll released on Monday has President Donald Trump's approval rating at 42%. He has not had an approval rating above 40% in Gallup's poll since it hit 41% in late May 2017, which was immediately after he fired James Comey as FBI director. CNN's recent polling has the President's job approval at 41%, no different than CNN's previous polling in March. However, his approval on specific issues like the economy, foreign trade and immigration have all increased since March by several points. While the President's approval ratings have remained stagnant in Gallup polling and the uptick could be...
