What happens when "cancel culture" infects the Church? Promise Keepers, an Evangelical organization founded in 1990 that holds men's rallies in stadiums nationwide, has seen several scheduled events at churches and other venues canceled in recent months. As recently as June, Belmont University, a private Christian university in Nashville, canceled a Promise Keepers event after the national Christian men's ministry posted a blog criticizing LGBT pride month. The university accused the organization of "unnecessarily fan[ning] the flames of culture wars." The event, which was part of the group's “Daring Faith” tour, is one of several events that were later canceled...

There;s a lot of America's heartland that's been gutted out by the forces of Big Government and Big Business but some Americans still have that good vision for the farmlands and ranch lands of our country under federal government control. The Republicans moving the Bureau of Land Management office to Grand Junction, Colorado doesn't change the principle of federal control that strangles the use of the land and put people like Dwight and Steven Hammond in jail. When Ammon Bundy brought his peaceful protest..... In our world today much rage obviously in the spirit of anarchy and Marxism-Leninism manifesting itself...

Ten years ago this October, somewhere between 500,000 to one-million -- depending on who was doing the tallying -- Christian men gathered in Washington, D.C., to "Stand in the Gap." At the time, the Promise Keepers (PK), the chief organizer of the event, appeared on the verge of becoming a major force in conservative politics. Within a few years, however, money dried up, media interest peaked and peeled off, and leadership squabbles ensued. The bubble burst. Despite scaling down their activities and continuing to function, the organization pretty much dropped off the radar screens of the traditional media. With its...

QUEERLY BELOVED A homosexual-activist police officer assigned to security at a Promise Keepers men's conference in Florida is being investigated for threatening members of a Christian organization petitioning for a state constitutional marriage amendment. "I have never in my life seen such unprofessional and bizarre behavior from a law enforcement officer," said John Stemberger, the president and general counsel of the Florida Family Policy Council. "This kind of ridiculous harassment and intimidation was meant to thwart the effort to protect marriage in Florida. It should remind all of us that we are engaged in a culture war. …" More @...

Leaders of the national Christian men's ministry the Promise Keepers decried the "feminization of men" in response to allegations that the group is sexist and anti-gay, as well as defended their plans to rally at the University of Arkansas' taxpayer-financed stadium. "Men break out with feminine attitudes; they've been feminized," the Rev. Robert Smith, senior pastor of Total Outreach for Christ Ministries in Little Rock, said Tuesday on behalf of Denver-based Promise Keepers Christian ministry. "They're not being a man for their women. There's an Eve in every man until it's taken out." Smith and Steve Chavis, Promise Keepers' national...

Promise Keepers may bring many people and dollars to Fayetteville, but they also bring intolerance, according to a consortium of groups that say Razorback Stadium should not be used to promote a religious viewpoint. "I don’t think this singleminded group should have their meeting here. It’s not an all-encompassing group and we are promoting diversity at the university," said Marian Kunetka, an archeologist at the Arkansas Archeological Survey at the University of Arkansas. "I have to look at the rest of it as freedom of religion. I can’t get past that. We have to give them that; but, I don’t...

FORT HUACHUCA -God has been wonderful to America, but God requires love in return for favoring the nation, a retired Army lieutenant general said Thursday. Speaking before 400 at the fort's annual National Prayer Breakfast, Alonzo E. Short said noted evangelist Billy Graham recently said America needs to recommit itself to God to ensure the nation stays in God's good graces. "God is looking down on this assembly and there is one thing He wants from each of us," Short said. God, he said, is looking for an answer to a simple question. "What is your relationship with my son,...

Acting on a tip, FBI agents in early October began digging up a vacant, swampy lot in Queens with a backhoe, searching for bodies of Mafia victims. One person the agents were seeking disappeared 24 years ago after he accidentally killed the 12-year-old son of John Gotti, the late "Teflon Don" mobster. I knew exactly where they were digging. I had been on that lonely dead end on Easter. For the past two years, I have been searching hundreds of streets and alleyways to discover the civilizing effect of Christ on New York City. I could have told them where...

I guess it was about 6 years ago that Washington, DC hosted Promise Keepers for the Stand in the Gap rally. That rally brought together over one million Christian men from all over the country. For a short period of time after that raly, we saw men standing up ad filling gaps around the nation. They filled these gaps not as men in a secular society, looking for fame and profit, but as men dedicated to serving Christ and giving Him the glory. Men willing to be not the head or the eyes or even the feet of the Body...

A newly released survey commission by Promise Keepers shows Christian men don't see issues of faith and spirituality as challenges in their lives, focusing more on family, work and health concerns. The poll, conducted by California-based Barna Research Group, found 85 percent of Christian men are not "spiritually challenged," according to a statement from Promise Keepers, a Colorado-based men's organization. Rather than issues regarding their faith or spiritual growth, respondents said family and children (42 percent) are a top "challenge" in their lives, along with career/money (39 percent) and health concerns (20 percent). Just one in eight said spirituality was...

The Rev. E.V. Hill, longtime pastor of the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles, died yesterday after a bout with pneumonia and other undisclosed medical problems. A force in the National Baptist Convention and a speaker at rallies around the country sponsored by Promise Keepers, an evangelical men's ministry, Hill stood out among prominent African American pastors in championing conservative political causes.
