I just let an anniversary go by unnoticed. I became a member of Free Republic on November 8, 1999. At that point in my life, I was a sophomore in college. Please keep my father in your prayers this weekend, and into next week. He is going into surgery next week to have one of his kidneys removed. He had surgery on his colon last August to remove a tumor, and during post-surgery diagnostic scanning, they found a "spot" on one of his kidneys that turned out to be another tumor. His surgery has been scheduled for some weeks now, and they were in not too much of a hurry to remove it, so it's probably not malignant, but as with all surgeries, there are risks, and in my dad's particular...

I will be turning 22 at 2:40 am on Thursday, which is Independence Day. I am honored to have been born on our nation's "birthday."
