A football player for the University of Arkansas made a political statement during Friday’s game against the Missouri Tigers when he struck the “hands up, don’t shoot” pose used by protesters since the shooting death of Ferguson teenager Michael Brown. During the first quarter of the game at Memorial Stadium/Faurot Field in Columbia, Missouri, Arkansas quarterback Brandon Allen threw a 23-yard touchdown pass to running back Jonathan Williams, who then put both hands in the air, mimicking demonstrators who turned the “hands up” saying into a rallying cry against excessive force against minorities by police.

Bill Clinton is no stranger to college basketball. Going back decades, the 42nd president of the United States has been a loyal Arkansas Razorbacks fan. He grew up in the state, and during his presidency in the 1990s became the first sitting American president to attend a Final Four. (And is still the only one to do so.) Arkansas held a day of appreciation, nostalgia and tribute on Saturday. The program celebrated its 20-year anniversary of winning the 1994 national title by bringing in a bunch of older, familiar faces back. Nolan Richardson, who coached the Hogs to that title,...

Bobby Petrino will not return as head football coach at Arkansas, multiples sources have told ESPN.com's Chris Low. The university has called an 8:15 p.m. ET press conference at which time athletic director Jeff Long will announce Petrino will not be back. The 51-year-old Petrino was put on paid leave last week after he didn't tell his boss right away that a 25-year-old female football program employee was riding with him during an April 1 motorcycle crash. Petrino, who is married with four children, also admitted to an inappropriate relationship. Also on Monday, a person familiar with the investigation confirmed...

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- It's been a crazy week for Hog football fans. On Monday, Houston Nutt resigned. And before the week is out, Arkansas may have a new coach ready to roll. The story has taken a few wild turns this week, but multiple sources, one of which is within the Arkansas Athletic Department, confirmed Auburn head coach Tommy Tuberville is in line to be the Razorbacks next head coach. Both Tuberville and his agent, Jimmy Sexton, have denied any agreement is in place. Sexton was at the Cowboys game Thursday night in Texas, where Hog alum and team...

Did Maureen really mean to call Hillary "feral"? As in: "a domestic animal [such as the razorback pictured here] that has returned to the wild and lives without human attention"? We'll take Dowd at her word. In Where’s His Right Hook? this morning, Dowd describes Barack Obama as being "bullied" by "the feral Hillary." Yikes. Dowd reports on a recent interview with Obama, to whom she variously refers as "Obambi" and "Barry," and lets us know she found herself, sitting across from him, feeling like the "nun [in the "Bells of St. Mary"] who teaches a schoolboy who’s being bullied...

Fayette County officer kills 600-pound boar Fayette County resident John Cocke walked out onto his deck, clapped his hands, and hollered. He first thought a neighbor's hog was on the loose, but he quickly saw the animal ripping into his chicken coop had long tusks, beady eyes and hair that stood up on his back like an angry dog. "He acted aggressive, like if you come out here, I'm going to tear you up." Cocke called for help. Fayette County Animal Control officer Thomas Petrowski felled the wild porker with three blasts from a 12-gauge shotgun. Cocke's nephew carved the...

It has been nearly four years since Texas lost a home game. The last thing the sixth-ranked Longhorns want is for that streak to come to an end Saturday against Arkansas when the former Southwest Conference rivals meet. Coming off a bye week after a season-opening 66-7 rout of New Mexico State on Aug. 31, Texas (1-0) looks for a repeat performance against Arkansas (1-0) in the 75th meeting between the teams. These schools played 60 straight times as Southwest Conference foes before the Razorbacks left for the SEC following the 1991 season. The Longhorns lead the series 54-20, but...
