  • More than 100,000 trans Americans have moved home over new laws aimed at them, and more are thinking about it — activists decry the 'largest domestic migration crisis since the Dust Bowl'

Transgender Americans are in large numbers relocating to other parts of the country over Red state laws that curtail their rights and make it harder for them to access sex-altering drugs, new research suggests. An opinion poll released this week found that 8 percent of trans adults have already left their neighborhood or state due to the new rules affecting them, and another 43 percent are thinking about making a move. That would amount to some 104,000 trans adults moving home, and another 559,000 considering it, based on an estimate that there are 1.3 million trans adults in the US....

I am considering taking an engineering job in Lewisville Texas and was wondering if there are decent nieghborhoods since the job consists of 50% or more travel I would want my stuff safe while I am away. I dont mind having a 30-45 minute commute, so I would be in that distance range. I am currently in Washington state and have been waiting a year and a half for a position to open with them. My other option is Peachtree Corners Georgia. I may not respond, just because im currently at work. Thanks.

Long-time freeper relocating from 110% Dem. voting district (you know what I mean) in Brooklyn to a Tucson development with one of the largest (if not the largest) Republican clubs in America (learned about it on FR about a decade ago!). So sick of running into people who insult Trump continuously, just assuming I'm of like mind because I don't wear a swastika or other Nazi paraphernalia. Was inspired by recent thread started by freeper moving to Phoenix. BTW, I know it's hot!

Police in Citrus Heights, along with Animal Control, have become involved in the case. They say the two nuns were upset that cats were getting into their garden. "For lack of a better term, these two ladies were at their wit's end and they just wanted some peace, and if they couldn't move themselves then they might be able to move the other half of the problem, which was the cats," Boehle said.

Our family is considering a possible move and we're looking at Oregon and central-northern Idaho. A friend lives in Bend, Oregon, and we'll be checking out that area next month. I'd love to hear about specific areas of Oregon and Idaho to avoid, what the current job and housing markets are like. Husband is an electrical contractor with 17+ years experience in commercial, residential, and light industrial. Thanks in advance.

REVIEW SUMMARY Florida Gov. Rick Scott may want to add California to his list of high-tax states from which to recruit employers. Consider the case of Accutek Packaging Equipment Companies, a privately held manufacturer of packaging equipment now based near San Diego. Darren Chocholek, the company’s chief financial officer and vice president, says he’s so impressed with Florida’s favorable tax and regulatory climate that he’s considering moving his company’s headquarters to Fort Myers. Chocholek formed a separate company in Florida and recently acquired enough industrial space in Fort Myers and Cape Coral to fill two football fields. The 133,000 square...

I am currently considering relocating to the San Antonio area as my company is doing some shuffling with business that leads me in that direction. If anyone who is from that area and/or is very familiar with the "topography" or crime/schools/etc of the area, please respond - I have been to the area several times over the years but have never spent any appreciable time exploring.

We're considering a move from Southeastern PA to the Orlando Florida area. My employer has an office in Maitland and I can work from there. I know the Orlando area has boomed over the last decade and along with all the population growth come the usual problems of traffic congestion, crime, etc. Any advice or suggestions folks can offer on better areas for families in the greater Orlando area would be appreciated (I don't mind a commute to Maitland of 30-45 minutes). We are a family of 4, (my wife, myself and 2 boys ages 14 and 16). Thanks in...
  • The Mountain South: Asheville, Greenville Or What's Your Pick? (Relocation Advice Vanity)

I'm thinking of the Carolina mountains as my next place to live. Would you consider Asheville, with its art deco feel as the place to live or would you go for Greenville with its more settled ambience? I've lived in California on the coast all my life and I'd like to try something different. Low cost of living, affordable housing, a safe place to live and having that view outside the window without the price tag. I know Colorado is expensive because every one goes there but no one seems to know the Blue Ridge Mountains are just as stunning....

MARINE CORPS RECRUIT DEPOT SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Sept. 2, 2005) -- Roughly 50 to 60 Marines stationed at the 8th Marine Corps Recruiting District, New Orleans, are relocating to other offices because of dangerous effects of Hurricane Katrina. A temporary headquarters command element is being established in the Fort Worth and Dallas area. Currently, a basic command capability is established at the Embassy Suites, Dallas, and operations will be directed out of Recruiting Substation Fort Worth. It is unclear when the command will be fully functional, but the relocating Marines are expected to regroup in Dallas by Tuesday, said Capt....

Former Vice President Al Gore, in his book Earth in the Balance, has stated that the internal combustion engine is a greater threat to the safety of mankind than nuclear weapons. Leaving beside the obvious absurdity of the statement--World War Two was not ended by dropping Studebakers on Japan, nor was the Cold War marked by Strategic Chevrolet Limitation Talks--the mindset evinced by this statement should be critically examined. P.J. O'Rourke has performed a hilarious comparison of the efficiency of the human body--in particular, rickshaw pullers--with the efficiency of the gasoline-powered engine. He notes that the chemical energy available in...

The following is a pre-approved posting whose purpose is to offer insight and advice to Northerners moving South. 1. Save all manner of bacon grease. You will be instructed on how to use it shortly. 2. Just because you can drive on snow and ice does not mean Southerners can. Stay home the two days of the year it snows. 3. If you do run your car into a ditch, don't panic. Four men in the cab of a four-wheel pick-up with a 12-pack of beer and a tow chain will be along shortly. Don't try to help them. Just...
