Hi All, This is my first request of this type, so please bear with me. A few minutes ago, I learned that two of my co-workers and their families were attending the Air Races in Reno, and while details are few and far between, it seems that they were among the seriously injured. May I please request that you offer up a prayer, or just think good thoughts, about Brian, Bill, and their families, as well as all the others who died or were injured at the Air Races. Thanks for your time. Mark

Emergency crews are heading to a reported plane crash at the Reno-Stead Airport. The accident happened just before 4:30pm during the National Championship Air Races. Witnesses tell our reporter Chris Ciarlo planes in the unlimited race were ascending when a P51 Mustang started to nose dive and then crashed near a spectator stand in the southeast corner. Ciarlo says the plane was third in contention when the crash happened. The plane DID NOT hit the stands, it hit nearby tables instead. As a result, airport personnel and military are evacuating thousands of spectators. Several emergency vehicles are currently headed to...

The NTSB has recovered 'components' which may be part of the P-51's horizontal stab and elevator... possibly even the elevator trim tab, which is a specified point of inquiry (as noted in previous ANN reports). The NTSB has received a significant amount of photographic and video evidence -- some of which show the process whereby the elevator trim tab separated from the horizontal stabilizer. There is no evidence of the much-reported 'Mayday' call. We are hearing a number of calls for additional regulation and FAA supervision... despite the fact that this is the first time in nearly 60 years that...

Two veteran pilots -- one a Bakersfield-based national champion in 2004 at a Reno air show -- were killed Wednesday in a World War II vintage airplane they've flown countless times before, according to friends at the crash scene in a canal and open farm field behind the Frito Lay plant. Al Goss, 68, the owner of the blue North American AT-6 (Advanced Training) "Texan" that was based in Shafter's Minter Field, and Steven Ballard, 54, a FedEx pilot from Anchorage, Alaska who worked on Goss's "Warlock team" at Minter Field, died at 11:34 a.m. when the AT-6 broke into...
