A Pennsylvania man has filed a petition to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, seeking the court to make the Pennsylvania Secretary of the commonwealth demand proof from President-elect Barack Obama that he is qualified as a natural born citizen of the United States. By refusing on Monday to hear a lawsuit challenging whether Barack Obama is indeed eligible under the Constitution to become the 44th president, the U.S. Supreme Court should have put to rest the fanciful rumors about the president-elect. The continuing efforts of a fringe group of conservatives to deny Obama his victory and to lay the basis for the claim that he is not a legitimate president is embarrassing and destructive.
