Police identified the man who opened fire on officers in Florence, South Carolina, Wednesday as 74-year-old Fred Hopkins, a Vietnam veteran and former attorney. Breitbart News reported that one officer was killed and six others injured when Hopkins opened fire. ABC 7 identified the deceased officer as 52-year-old Terrence Carraway, a 30-year veteran of the Florence Police Department. FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) - One suspect is in custody and a Florence police officer is deceased after eight people, seven of which were law enforcement officers, were shot in Florence Wednesday evening. Sources tell News13 Fred Hopkins is the suspect arrested in the case. According to Chief Deputy Glenn Kirby with the Florence County Sheriff's Office, the suspect surrendered to deputies after talking with a negotiator and was taken to the hospital for treatment. Kirby also says a 20-year-old male inside the home was also shot and is still alive.

A Democratic congressional staffer was arrested Wednesday and accused of posting the personal information of at least one Republican senator during last week's hearing about sexual assault claims against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, authorities said.

Jackson Cosko, who calls himself a “Democratic Political Professional” with cybersecurity expertise, is accused of crimes for allegedly doxing Republican Senators during the Brett Kavanaugh/Christine Blasey Ford hearings. The United States Capitol Police arrested the suspect who allegedly “posted private, identifying information (doxing) about one of more United States Senators to the internet,” a statement said. According to Legistorm, he worked for U.S. Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-NH) and previously worked for Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA). A September 2018 letter from Sheila Jackson Lee (D -TX) identifies him as a staffer for her office.

FLORENCE, S.C. - Five law enforcement officers were shot in an active shooter situation in Florence, South Carolina, Wednesday afternoon, according to our ABC affilate WPDE in Myrtle Beach. Officials say three Florence Co. deputies and two Florence City police officers were injured. Their conditions are unclear. The incident took place at at the Vintage Place subdivision off Hoffmeyer Road in West Florence, a community about an hour-and-a-half east of Columbia. Emergency management officials are urging people to stay away from the area.
