Legislation introduced in Congress this month would require any semi-automatic rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine to be registered under the National Firearms Act.The bill, H.R.4953 {To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to subject to the requirements of the National Firearms Act any semiautomatic rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine.}, was filed last Friday in the House by U.S. Rep. Ted Deutch, a Florida Democrat who is outspoken in his support of gun control measures."Congress passed the National Firearms Act after the 1929 Valentine's Day massacre to tightly regulate certain...

Full Title: NEW ZEALAND GUN OWNERS ARE VOLUNTARILY HANDING OVER SEMIAUTOMATIC RIFLES TO POLICE: 'WE DON'T NEED THESE IN OUR COUNTRY'Since Friday's deadly attack at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, gun owners have been turning up at local police stations seeking to have their own semiautomatic rifles—the weapon believed to have been used in the shootings—destroyed. In the days since the attacks, which saw 50 people killed and dozens more injured, a number of gun owners in New Zealand have gone on social media to encourage others to follow in their footsteps. They want them to hand over their...
  • Do Bushmaster AR-15s/M4s accept polymer magazines?

    03/07/2015 6:44:30 PM PST · by eater-of-toast · 23 replies
As a .308 guy, and an M-1A and FAL owner, I've never purchased an AR-15 or semiauto M4, but think I'm about to give in. One feature I want is the ability to use polymer magazines, eg the Israeli orlite 30-rounders. I remember it used to be the case that Bushmasters would only feed the first round from a polymer magazines properly. Has Bushmaster rectified this, or no? I want an AR-15 or M4 that'll feed consistently from any aftermarket magazine. I don't wish to be restricted to the gunmaker's propriety magazines, or to aluminum magazines only (which, unless I'm...

This page allows you to tell the entire membership of both the New Mexico House Consumer and Public Affairs Committee and the House Judiciary Committee (18 representatives) to oppose House Bill 402 with one mouse click. HB 402 is an "all-out assault on law-abiding gun owners" in New Mexico. The bill is "one of the worst gun control bills filed in the entire country," as it would ban "the future possession and transport of a so-called 'assault weapon' or 'large-capacity ammunition-feeding devices.'" The legislation would mean that "Ownership of the affected firearms and magazines could not be transferred AT ALL....
  • The .44 Special is the best handgun caliber

I believe the .44 Special is the best handgun cartridge ever made. It is accurate and has enough energy in factory loadings to drop the bad guy. It can be handloaded to near .44 mag velocities if the revolver is of good quality.

MIAMI (AP) - The spray of bullets that killed a police officer and hurt three others this week came from something increasingly common on this city's streets: a high-powered assault weapon, fast becoming the gun of choice for gang members and violent criminals. And when the guns, once found solely in the hands of soldiers, are aimed at officers on patrol, there's little authorities can do to escape. "It's almost like we have water pistols going up against these high-powered rifles," said John Rivera, president of the Dade County Police Benevolent Association. "Our weaponry and our bulletproof vests don't match...
