Amanda Tapping will appear in 14 episodes of Stargate Atlantis when she joins the cast in Season Four, executive producers Brad Wright and Robert C. Cooper said in new interviews at StargateSG1.com, MGM's official site. Tapping has played the role of Samantha Carter on Stargate SG-1 for the past 10 years. "Amanda Tapping is coming to join the Atlantis team," Wright said. "She'll be coming in her own spaceship and joining the crew in Atlantis. And we're delighted by that."

Prepare to step through the gate all over again! A third television series in the hit Stargate franchise is now in development, GateWorld has learned. A production source informs GateWorld that the new series is in the concept phase, and is being actively worked on by the Vancouver creatives behind Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. No concept for the show has yet been revealed. The third TV series is also not likely to be rushed into production for a 2007 premiere in order to replace SG-1, which takes its final bow with 10 new episodes this spring. Instead, a premiere...

Actress Teryl Rothery has been cast in Babylon 5: The Lost Tales, a new direct-to-DVD movie now in production in Vancouver, British Columbia. The film (actually a collection of two one-hour stories) will be released in 2007, picking up some time after the events of the hit 1990s sci-fi television show. Rothery co-starred for seven years on Stargate SG-1 as the beloved Dr. Janet Fraiser. She will play an ISN news reporter in The Lost Tales, according to writer, director, and executive producer J. Michael Straczynski. The Lost Tales is intended to be a multiple-DVD series, with this first 2-hour...

What's the future of Stargate SG-1? Fans have been wondering and rumors have been flying for weeks since the long-running SCI FI Channel series was cancelled in August (story). Now, at least the first part of that answer is here. MGM has given a green light for the show's creators to produce two direct-to-DVD movies based on SG-1. Executive producer Brad Wright let TV Guide in on the news this week. "It's the climax of the Ori story line," Wright said of the first film. The movie will tie up the loose ends from the show's tenth season, which is...

The final two titles of Stargate SG-1's 10-year run are finally revealed -- unless, of course, the show rebounds from cancellation a second time and continues on to an eleventh season. Season Ten will conclude with "Dominion," the nineteenth episode of the current season, GateWorld has learned. The episode is being directed by Wil Waring. That will be followed by the season finale -- and perhaps series finale -- "Unending," directed by executive producer Robert C. Cooper. "Unending" is the fifth in a line of season finales that the show's writers thought may end up serving as Stargate SG-1's last...

Stargate SG-1 undoubtedly has a future after SCI FI channel cancelled the long-running series last month (story) -- but what kind of future is it? A feature film? An eleventh season with another broadcaster? IGN reports this week that, according to unnamed cast members, the studio is currently planning to create a series of SG-1 TV movies. It is likely that the movies would be broadcast on SCI FI Channel in the United States, but there are no murmurs of a potential broadcaster yet. Though we do think the story has merit, chalk this one up to unconfirmed for now....

  • The Big Push: Save Stargate SG-1

This is an email I recieved from the SaveStargateSG1.com website. For those of you who don't know the show, it has been airing for 10 seasons and recently passed the 200 episode landmark. This current season is actually very intriguing because it has introduced a new villian that acts in very similar ways to the Islamofacists. Though there was no provocation, this new villian has just sent its armies to our galaxy to either convert (to the "one true religion") or kill every living thing. The SciFi station recently showed its contempt for the fans of this show, who give...

In the week since the cancellation of Stargate SG-1 was announced (story), fans from all over the world have come together to show their support for America's longest-running science fiction series. Fans hope that by writing letters, sending faxes and tissue boxes (see "Children of the Gods" if you don't get the reference), making phone calls, and supporting the show on television and iTunes, they will send a message that there is a lot of life left in the series. GateWorld is proud to support the fan campaign, now headquartered at SaveStargateSG1.com. It seems that in this day and age...

Tongight's Sci-Fi Listing: 8/7 - Stargate Sg1 200:Basically replaying last week's episode of 200, which of I think it was the funniest episode of Sg1 ever.. You can tell a lot about a show that it does not take it self seriously like another show does. 9/8 - Stargate Sg1 Counterstrike: The Jaffa take the fight to the Ori, using a genocidal weapon on their new worshippers and landing SG-1 in the middle of a war they can't control. 10/9 - Stargate Atlantis Common Ground: Colonel Sheppard finds himself the prisoner of a Genii commander, along with a Wraith who...

Don't count Stargate SG-1 out just yet. Though SCI FI Channel has cancelled the long-running series (story), the show's producers are hard at work looking for a new outlet for the story to continue, executive producer Robert C. Cooper told GateWorld exclusively. "As far as the future I can't comment yet because nothing has been confirmed," Cooper said. "What we want to emphasize is that the franchise is not dying. SG-1 will go on in some way. We're just not ready to announce how."A formal announcement from the studio and the network is expected later this week. Cooper also emphasizes...

The future of Stargate is in question today, as SCI FI Channel has cancelled the long-running Stargate SG-1, Multichannel News reported today and a GateWorld source has confirmed. The news regrettably follows the airing of the show's milestone two-hundredth episode on Friday. Stargate Atlantis, meanwhile, has been renewed for a fourth season, with the network hoping to see that the spin-off series can stand alone, according to a source. SG-1 has struggled in the ratings all summer, with the record-breaking tenth season premiering with a 1.4 household rating -- down more than 20 percent from last season's average. After a...

What do Star Trek, The Wizard of Oz, Team America, detective shows, teenage dramas, and furry aliens all have in common? But wait, there's more. What about Farscape, weddings, zombie horror flicks, and the guy from Sex and the City? All of this, and more, is packed into tonight's milestone two-hundredth episode of Stargate SG-1, for which the show's writers, cast, and crew pulled out all the stops, opened the flood gates ... and show fans just how crazy things get when everyone gets what they ask for. A mostly spoiler-free review is now online at the Chicago Tribune's "The...
