The White House on Wednesday expressed its frustration that OPEC+ had decided to cut production and announced additional releases of America’s oil reserves in an attempt to keep prices low. “The President is disappointed by the shortsighted decision by OPEC+ to cut production quotas while the global economy is dealing with the continued negative impact of Putin’s invasion of Ukraine,” read a statement from the White House on Wednesday after OPEC+ announced their decision to cut production by 2 million barrels per day.
  • Senator Ted Cruz listens to Iowa farmers, supports Renewable Fuel Standard (Ethanol) through 2022

SIOUX CENTER - During a bus tour stop in Sioux Center, Iowa last night, Senator Ted Cruz expressed support for the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) through 2022. Responding to a question from an ethanol investor from Iowa about whether he would allow the landmark energy program to continue through its current expiration in 2022, Sen. Cruz responded by expressing support for the RFS through 2022. Senator Cruz also expressed passionate support for breaking through the so-called "blendwall." That "blendwall" makes it illegal for ethanol to expand its market penetration, and I intend to eliminate the EPA blendwall to get rid...

Please excuse the vanity, but perhaps someone can make this happen before election day. Obama has Springsteen, JayZ, Barbara Streisand, to name a few, to draw crowds for his rallys. Why doesn't Rush donate a couple of days to warm up the crowd for McCain in some key states? I'd love to hear him make the obvious points with humor, and McCain can come on and bring it home by giving the crowd his ideas to move the country forward through sound conservative and Constitutional principles. ...just aksin'....
  • (vanity) Browsing US manufacturers for an economical flex-fuel E-85 truck: BUPKISS!

Have just spent the afternoon, browsing the manufacturers websites of every major US automaker, looking for a basic flex-fuel pickup truck. GM. Ford. Chrysler. Found some flex-fuel trucks (mostly on the GM site), but only top of the line, with large engines. Will US automakers drop THIS ball also?

PENSACOLA, Fla. -- The White House did not hide its irritation Monday at Florida GOP gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist for ducking President George W. Bush at a campaign rally in the Republican friendly Panhandle. Crist said he considered the Pensacola area so firmly in his camp that it made more sense to campaign elsewhere in the state as the race to replace outgoing Gov. Jeb Bush tightened. On a tarmac in Texas where the president boarded Air Force One for the trip east, Bush political strategist Karl Rove mockingly questioned what kind of alternate rally Crist could put together that...

Escaped golf-course grass frees gene genie in the US 09 August 2006 Andy Coghlan A nondescript grass discovered in the Oregon countryside is hardly an alien invasion. Yet the plant - a genetically modified form of a grass commonly grown on golf courses - is worrying the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) enough that it is running its first full environmental impact assessment of a GM plant. It is the first time a GM plant has escaped into the wild in the US, and it has managed it before securing USDA approval. The plant, creeping bentgrass (Agrostis stolonifera, carries a...

LUXEMBOURG (Reuters) - A long battle to win the rights to build and operate the European Union's new satellite navigation system ended on Monday with approval for the two former rival consortiums to make a joint bid. Galileo, the multi-billion euro project seen as a competitor to the U.S. Global Positioning System, is scheduled to go into service in 2008 and eventually will have 30 satellites for mostly civilian uses. The two consortiums -- made up primarily of French, German, Spanish and Italian industrial heavyweights -- said they wanted to join forces in May after the body charged with awarding...

DETROIT - Ford Motor Co.'s development efforts for a diesel Ford Focus for North America are on the back burner. New COO Jim Padilla says the business case for diesel-powered small cars doesn't work. Diesel engines are costly because they have high-pressure fuel systems and need exhaust equipment required to meet pending U.S. emissions regulations. "Do you think you can float that on the back of a C car (Focus-sized) in North America?" Padilla said. "The cost is just too high." Ford has toyed with bringing a diesel Focus to the United States for several years. Last year President Nick...
