Snoopy, the irreverent dog from the "Peanuts" comic strip, took time from his World War I dogfights as world-famous flying ace to become a world-famous astronaut for NASA's Apollo 10 mission. The beagle now has a 5-foot-tall statue at Florida's Kennedy Space Center to commemorate the flight, which launched 40 years ago this month and arrived at the moon on May 21, 1969. That's when the Snoopy lunar module and the Charlie Brown command module entered lunar orbit. Apollo 10 paved the way for Apollo 11 to land men on the moon. "It went down in his life as one...

I've been given a ceramic flowerpot by my boss, and she says it was her mother's and may be worth something. It is ceramic with a relief of snoopy and a sunflower. Bottom printing list copyright as 1958 but I doubt the pot is that old. Unfortunately I think this is the only one she didn't throw away. Anyway I have googled alot and cannot find it anywhere to try and ascertain it's rarity or value. Any FReepers know anything about this type of thing?

This Barack-Hillary Show has jumped the shark. Week after week, the same old same old. It’s gotten more tired than a Paula Abdul meltdown on “American Idol.” He wins one, she wins one. Barack’s people say, “They’re raising the bar!” Hillary’s minions say, “They’re moving the goalposts.” And America is changing the channel. Don’t the Democrats understand? This is May, a ratings sweeps months. You put your best new episodes on. Instead, we’re getting reruns from February. “Yes we can!” Obama said last night. Hey, isn’t this is where we came in? Actually, these next few days are going to...

Buy me some peanuts and cracker jack ... This familiar line from the baseball anthem "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" doesn't have the same happy meaning for Timothy Haverkamp that it does for most fans. Timothy, a first-grader from Ada Elementary, is allergic to peanuts. "He was allergic to everything when he was little. His brother is allergic to peanuts, too," Jane Haverkamp, Timothy's mother, said. "He never had a life-threatening emergency with peanuts, but we don't keep any at home." Timothy attended Wednesday's West Michigan Whitecaps game without fear of an attack. The team hosted its second...

VALDOSTA, Ga. - A MetLife blimp narrowly missed a gazebo just before it crashed Monday in south Georgia due to high winds. The pilot was forced to jump from the gondola moments before the blimp's impact. Authorities said no one was injured in the incident, which happened shortly after 5 p.m. in Lowndes County. The pilot described the crash as controlled. The blimp initially tried to land at Valdosta Regional Airport but high winds from an afternoon storm blew the ship named "Snoopy One" off course. Snoopy One is one of two MetLife blimps that cover professional sporting events around...
