Via Mediaite, inquiring conservatives on Twitter are asking: Er, isn't Ann Coulter herself famously a big fan of RomneyCare?Answer: Yeah, but I'm not sure it's Andrea Saul's mention of RomneyCare that's really bugging her. Mediaite's transcript: “Her response was not that it was despicable, not that Bain… that Romney had left Bain five years earlier or the woman died five years after the plant closed and didn’t even get her insurance from her husband, her response was, ‘Well, if she had lived in Massachusetts with Mitt Romney’s health care plan, she would have had health insurance.’ Anyone who donates to...

Politics: Unable to run on his record, President Hope-and-Change has built a campaign based entirely on scurrilous lies about Mitt Romney. But the latest reaches a historic, despicable low. That ad features a man claiming that after Bain Capital closed his steel plant, he lost his job and his insurance, and shortly thereafter his wife died of cancer. [snip] The Obama campaign has refused to denounce the ad, which is understandable, since when you lie as often as it does, the lines of propriety start to get blurry.

...So here’s the proof. Below are two ads. Both of them show Joe Soptic. Here’s the kicker: in the first ad, Soptic is featured telling part of his story — but after he’s done, the voice of Barack Obama comes on saying that he “approves” the message. Wait, the same guy that the administration is saying they know little about actually appeared in an Obama-approved ad? You bet your Chicago politics....

Oops? President Barack Obama's re-election campaign washed its hands Wednesday of an independent group's vicious (and misleading) ad effectively blaming Mitt Romney for the death of a laid-off steelworker's wife from cancer. Campaign officials flatly denied any knowledge of the facts in the case—but it turns out the widower told the same story on an Obama campaign conference call in mid-May. (The Obama campaign responded late in the day: See update below).

Former steel worker Joe Soptic, who was prominently featured in President Obama's new anti-Romney ad, is actually a familiar face on the anti-Bain beat. In January, Soptic complained to Democracy Now, a liberal non-profit TV station, that when the steel company he worked for was bought out, they tried to buy him out. "I guess the first thing I noticed that when the company was bought out by GST, They became very union non-friendly, they started looking for ways to eliminate jobs," Soptic said. "In my case in my department, they actually offered to buy our jobs out from underneath...

On Tuesday, the Romney campaign blasted a nasty, controversial pro-Obama super PAC ad that blamed Mitt Romney for the death of a steelworker's wife after Bain Capital closed his plant and he lost health insurance. The ad instantly came off as nasty, but it was further made damaged goods later in the day by CNN, when the network reported that Soptic's wife was laid off from her job in 2002 or 2003 and lost her health insurance. She did not have health insurance through her husband's job. President Barack Obama's campaign had been pleading ignorance, distancing itself from the super...

Representatives from the Obama campaign tried to distance themselves on Wednesday from a new ad released by the pro-Obama Super PAC Priorities USA that links actions taken by Bain Capital to the death of former steelworker Joe Soptic’s wife. Aboard Air Force One, campaign spokesperson Jen Psaki told reporters that the campaign had “no involvement with any ads that are done by Priorities USA.” “We don’t have any knowledge of the story of the family,” Psaki said when asked about Soptic’s story. On CNN’s Early Start Wednesday morning, Obama for America Deputy Campaign Manager Stephanie Cutter also denied that she...

Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul thrust herself into the spotlight today by making a super lame argument against Burton’s outrageous “Romney killed my wife” ad by arguing that if the wife had been in Massachusetts, she would have had Romneycare for insurance. This has enraged Ann Coulter and she rips Saul to shreds, saying that Romney donors should demand Saul is fired or they won’t give another dime.

Right now the biggest political story of the day is the disgraceful ad released by the pro-Obama super PAC, Priorities USA, that shamelessly, openly, and falsely blames Mitt Romney for the death of a woman afflicted with cancer. In the ad, a man named Joe Soptic tells a tragic but completely misleading story that lays the unfortunate death of his wife at Romney's feet. The ad is so outrageous, even the mainstream media has demanded the Obama Campaign repudiate it. The response from the Obama camp has uniformly been to declaratively deny any knowledge of the content in the ad....

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: Here's the CNN sound bite. This is from the Situation Room, Wolf Blitzer. Brianna Keilar reported this about that ad that Romney killed the guy's wife. KEILAR: In 1999, Mitt Romney leaves Bain for the Salt Lake Olympics, stopping day to day oversight of the company but remaining CEO. In 2001, Joe Soptic loses his job when Bain closes the plant. His wife still has insurance, though, from her employer, Saver's Thrift Store. A year later, Romney formally leaves Bain, and it's that year, 2002 or perhaps 2003, Soptic tells CNN, that his wife leaves her job...

In one of the more loathsome displays of this election season, Obama campaign adviser Robert Gibbs, appearing on today's Morning Joe, refused to criticize an ad from an Obama-endorsed Super PAC that accuses Mitt Romney of being responsible for a woman's death from cancer. The former Obama press secretary used every tired dodge in the book to evade criticizing the commercial. Gibbs variously claimed that: he hadn't seen the ad; wasn't familiar with the specifics of the woman's case, and didn't want to announce a general policy on denouncing false Super PAC ads. His evasions were too much not only...

A new attack ad by a Super PAC backing President Obama appears to blame Mitt Romney for a woman's death from cancer after his company, Bain Capital, shut down the steel mill where the woman's husband worked. The ad makes it seem like Joe Soptic's wife, Ilyona, lost her battle with cancer shortly after he lost his job at GST Steel in Missouri, where he had worked for almost 30 years. "When Mitt Romney closed the plant I lost my healthcare, and my family lost their healthcare," Soptic says in the ad put out by Priorities USA Action, the main...

(snip) The point of calling Romney a murderer is to keep him on the defensive; the more ridiculous the charge is, the more media/online oxygen it sucks up and the less air there is for Mitt’s own attacks on O to breathe. .... Question: Knowing what we know now about the timeline of all this, what’s left of the accusation in the original smear ad? What is it, precisely, that Bain is being faulted for doing or not doing? They shouldn’t have closed down the plant because … it was unfair to expect the workers who were laid off to...

Earlier today, pro-Obama super PAC Priorities USA released an ad in which Joe Soptic discusses how he lost his job because Bain closed a GST Steel plant in Kansas City, Missouri, in 2001, and notes that his wife passed away of cancer not long after, suggesting that she waited to see a doctor (she had stage 4 cancer by the time she received medical attention) because of the couple’s lack of health insurance. Well, first it turned out that Soptic’s wife, Ranae Soptic, died in 2006 — five years after the GST Steel plant closed.

No description at YouTube, so my write up:CNN's Brianna Kielar spoke with Joe Soptic, a former steelworker featured in a new pro-Obama super PAC ad who was laid off in 2001 when Bain Capital closed the company he had worked at for a reported 30 years. Without directly accusing Soptic and Priorities USA of being despicable liars, CNN lets its reporting call them out as despicable liars. Soptic told CNN his wife had her own health insurance at her own job when he was laid off. Soptic said his wife quit her job a year or two later due to...

Considering the way the Obama campaign has decided to blame Romney and Bane capital for the death of a man's wife, I have decided to begin a campaign of listing the people Obama is responsible of killing. When you think of all those GM & Chrysler dealerships that were forced to close, I would bet we can find many who will be willing to blame Obama for the untimely death of their loved ones. Just consider if you will, the many lives Obama is responsible for in "Fast and Furious" alone. Besides the death of an American Border Agent, his...

Please, spare me the objection that this comes from The One’s Super PAC, not his formal campaign, and therefore it’s technically not an “Obama ad.” That excuse never flew for Romney when his own Super PAC was carpet-bombing Gingrich and Santorum in the primaries. The wall of separation between a campaign and its PAC is all but invisible to the naked eye. If you think it’s easy for the White House to get Harry Reid to smear Romney over his tax returns, imagine how easy it must be for them to get former White House spokesman and current Priorities USA...
