California will begin offering the option of human composting after death thanks to a bill recently signed into law that aims to tackle climate change. Human composting, also known as natural organic reduction (NOR), would be an option for residents who don't want to be buried or cremated upon their death - starting in 2027. The process involves placing the body inside a long, reusable steel container along with wood chips and flowers to aerate it - allowing microbes and bacteria to do break down the remains.

MAN REPLACED 90 PERCENT OF HIS MEALS WITH DRINK MIXTURE KITCHEN DAILY 6/17/13 The 24-year-old, who has difficulty finding time to shop and cook as a software engineer in Atlanta, researched what nutrients his body actually needed to get from food. He then created Soylent, which, according to Fox News, is a "drink mixture of vitamins and minerals which includes calcium, potassium, zinc, vitamins A, B, C, D, E and K." Rhinehart began swapping his daily meals for his Soylent formula. We caught up with Rhinehart to talk about his new diet.

Dementia sufferers are being killed by doctors in Holland under the country’s euthanasia laws, official figures are to reveal. A total of 21 patients with early-stage dementia, including Alzheimer’s, died by lethal injection last year, according to a forthcoming annual report. This is the first time dementia sufferers have been included in the country’s euthanasia statistics. None of the cases is thought to have involved any illegal act on the part of health professionals, and each time the patient was considered capable of giving their consent. But the figures have caused alarm among critics who say the pool of patients...

New York (AP) -- A judge sentenced a man to 240 years in prison Wednesday for taking hostages in a bar and telling patrons that "white people are going to burn tonight." State Supreme Court Justice Maxwell Wiley told Steven Johnson, 39, who is black, that he had forfeited his "right to live in society." Johnson, 39, was convicted March 1 of attempted murder, assault and other charges, including some designated as hate crimes. Johnson invaded Bar Veloce, in Manhattan's East Village neighborhood, while nine men and six women were inside it June 16, 2002. He was carrying three pistols,...

Serious movement in D.C. – and if I hadn't been there, I would not have believed it. For several months Joan Wire and her daughter have been trying to secure an appointment with a highly effective government official we'll simply call Mr. Washington. Joan Wire is the stalwart wife of Mike Wire. Mike is the storied "man on the bridge," the single most critical eyewitness in the saga of TWA Flight 800, the 747 that was inexplicably blown out of the sky on the night of July 17, 1996. The CIA built its notorious zoom-climb animation around Mike's position on...

Farm-raised pigs are dirty, smelly animals ... They're also an environmental hazard. Their manure contains phosphorus, which ... runs off into lakes ... depleting oxygen, killing fish, stimulating algae overgrowth and emitting greenhouse gases. ... Pigs provide more dietary protein, more cheaply, to more people than any other animal. ... Two Canadian scientists have created a pig whose manure doesn't contain very much phosphorus at all. ... The Enviropig is one of many new technologies that are putting environmentalists and organic-food proponents in a quandary: should they remain categorically opposed to genetically modified (GM) foods ... at the expense of...

Ray McGovern a 27-year senior CIA intelligence analyst has exposed the lies of the Neocons and the Israeli-controlled foreign policy of the United States. The session took an awkward turn when witness Ray McGovern, a former intelligence analyst, declared that the United States went to war in Iraq for oil, Israel and military bases craved by administration “Neocons” so “the United States and Israel could dominate that part of the world.” He said that Israel should not be considered an ally and that Bush was doing the bidding of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. “Israel is not allowed to be...

Tom, honestly......you know that our government (both parties) is infested with (controled by) our enemies. Many (most, all) are agents from the Federal Reserve (CIA). That is why they had to get rid of Joe McCarthy, Hoover and recent other conservative patriots (Kennedy and recent others even the demise of the FBI which may still have patriots within it's ranks) in our Government. Usually it is by assasinations, freak plane crashes, impossible suicide's or some other ridiculous story posted by our complicit news media. The majority of American People are simply in the dark. The "minite men" will be trapped...

It's time for Freepers to start a We Want Wendy's campaign to stop this ridiculous product disparagement. Freepers should make a point to take their families to Wendy's and encourage their friends to go, ala the Eat for Victory campaign after 9/11. This case has received far more "legs" than any story about rats or whatever supposedly found in food. I guess, dining on digits is more offensive than munching on mice. I wonder if that is the reason why the lady dropped her suit against Wendy's; she probably had expected it to be a quick-payoff with her fancy attorney...

------------------------------------------------- WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THE SKYS OVER NORTHERN OHIO? On Wednesday morning September 22nd, 2004 a caller rang the WTAM morning show, Wills and Coleman in the Morning, to report the sightings of strange colors in the sky. Other callers reported seeing the same thing while others tried to describe and/or explain the image. (You can hear a sampling of the calls below). Afternoon host Mike Trivisonno was curious and ventured into his backyard to see for himself. Although he did not see the lights he did see something peculiar, jet contrails all over the crystal clear Cleveland...

Posting the same message on all the boards defeats the purpose of multiple-boards for special topics. It is very annoying to see the same message on every bulletin board. PLEASE! DO THE READERS A FAVOR. STOP CROSS-POSTING YOUR MESSAGES!

Bush has a fork in him. Look at the polls. You see them. What makes you think it's gonna get any better for the appointed one? Only the dedicated neo-cons support this clown. Your boy is toast. I hope you guys won't do anything rash after he loses horribly on November 2. President Kerry will make this country much better. Just keep that in mind and you'll be fine. Better yet, jump on the Kerry bandwagon and support a return to peace and prosperity. Come on guys, I'm on your side.

WASHINGTON (AFP) - The hungry global economy is eating up the earth's natural resources at a far faster rate than they can be renewed, a US environmental expert warned. AFP-NASA/File Photo The bleak warning was made by Lester Brown, president and founder of the Washington-based Earth Policy Institute, who has published his findings in a United Nations (news - web sites)-funded book. "We are releasing carbon dioxide into the atmosphere faster than the earth can absorb it, creating a greenhouse effect," Brown said. "Our existing economic output is based in part on cutting trees faster than they can grow, overpumping...

After fighting the war on drugs for nearly 30 years, Lt. Jack Cole is ready to admit defeat. The retired New Jersey State Police detective -- who spent 12 years as an undercover narcotics officer -- spearheads a movement to legalize all narcotics as a way of ending the bloody, expensive war. "The war on drugs was, is and always will be a dismal failure," said Mr. Cole yesterday to a meeting of the Fairhaven Rotary Club. Mr. Cole is one of the founders of an international nonprofit group called Law Enforcement Against Prohibition -- LEAP. That group, which includes...
