The maker of popular hot chili sauce Sriracha made a bold statement Friday with a banner reading, “No tear gas made here,” placed outside its North Azusa Canyon Road factory. A California judge has temporarily halted production of the popular sriracha Asian-style hot sauce after residents of a Los Angeles suburb complained of the factory's odour. The fumes emitted from Huy Fong Foods' factory in Irwindale are "extremely annoying, irritating and offensive to the senses", Judge Robert O'Brien said. Sriracha lovers united for the first-ever Sriracha Festival on Sunday in downtown Los Angeles. They came in droves with a line wrapping around the long city block outside Lot 163, where participants came armed with cameras, dressed in red T-shirts, and one, wrapped in a full Sriracha bottle costume.
