India and China have agreed to an “expeditious disengagement” of troops in a disputed border area where their soldiers have been locked in a stand-off for more than two months, India’s foreign ministry said on Monday. The decision comes ahead of a summit of the BRICS nations - a grouping that also includes Brazil, Russia and South Africa - in China next month, which Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend. Indian and Chinese troops have been confronting each other at the Doklam plateau near the borders of India, its ally Bhutan and China, in the most serious...

Where did the USS Carl Vinson or the “armada” that was “steaming” full speed ahead toward North Korea disappear to? As I was looking over the news I was shocked to read it was on its way to the Sea of Japan. That is exactly where Vice President Pence is today. Pence did a wonderful and honorable job in South Korea for the American people. He spoke directly to the Kim Dynasty when he said “all options were on the table.” The Kim Dynasty also includes Lil’Kim’s sister, who has as much influence in North Korea as Kim. So President...

Four of the seven remaining Oregon standoff defendants who were set to go to trial Feb. 14 have decided to accept negotiated deals and are expected to change their pleas during hearings in federal court Monday. Sean Anderson and his wife, Sandra Anderson -- among the last four holdouts during the 41-day occupation at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge last year -- as well as Dylan Anderson and Darryl Thorn are set to enter guilty pleas to a single misdemeanor trespass charge and have the remaining felony and misdemeanor charges dismissed. They're expected to face one year of probation and...

The FBI on Wednesday evening moved in on the last four occupiers at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon, the Oregonian newspaper reported. The four armed, anti-government protesters had been indicted last week with 12 others on charges of conspiring to impede federal officers during an armed standoff at the compound. The takeover at Malheur started on Jan. 2 when their leader, Ammon Bundy, and followers, seized buildings at the refuge in a protest against federal control over millions of acres public land in the West. This video was made six months ago. It is LaVoy Finicum who was killed by our government last week speaking about our rights, our constitution and why he feels compelled to stand up.

What follows is my personal account of following the situation of late Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning, including talks with sources on the ground and on conference calls with Sergeant Major Joseph Santoro (U.S.A., Ret.), Stewart Rhodes, State Representative Matthew Shea (R-WA), Jason Van Tatenhove, and others. Much of the following information has been poorly covered by the media or not reported at all. – After the felony stop, Sergeant Major Joseph Santoro (U.S.A., Ret.), who has been on the ground in Burns for approximately three weeks, began communicating with FBI contacts. A top priority for SGM Santoro, acting...

An eyewitness and his daughter have provided the first outside account of the shootout between members of the Oregon militiamen who had seized the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge complex and a blocking force of FBI agents who kept the vehicle from escaping an attempted traffic stop.

Mormon rancher LaVoy Finicum was killed during the Oregon militia standoff on January 26. He's survived by his Jeanette. Finicum was 54 years old when he died. Together he and his wife maintained a ranch in northern Arizona. The ranch was staffed and managed by the couple's 11 foster children. They were kids the couple took in, troubled kids with criminal histories. During the standoff, Finicum complained that the state had taken away the children because of his high profile role with the militia. Meanwhile on his wife, Jeanette's LinkedIn page, she lists foster care provider as her full time...

The seizure of a federal wildlife refuge in Oregon by armed anti-government extremists has attracted national attention and raised questions about whether the takeover is a powder keg about to blow. But experts who monitor the anti-government movement say an even greater concern is lurking behind the confrontation that erupted Saturday at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in the high desert of eastern Oregon. The militia movement, they say, is in the midst of a massive growth spurt at levels even greater than in the early 1990s after the Waco, Texas, standoff and the siege at Ruby Ridge, Idaho. It...

A brief synopsis of the current Oregon standoff via Hot Air: It appears that we've got ourselves another militia standoff out West, this time in rural, eastern Oregon, where armed activists are taking issue with the federal government over control of a wildlife refuge and the fate of two ranchers who are supposed to be on the way to jail. Complicating the issue (at least in the eyes of the media) is the fact that the protest is being organized and led by three sons of Cliven Bundy...While this case has obviously been simmering for a while, it swelled out...

And though the Bundys are involved in the Oregon occupation, the scene can hardly be described as a standoff. The 20 or so militants at the refuge come and go as they please. No police were apparent Sunday anywhere between Burns and the 30-mile drive to the refuge.

How did an armed takeover of a federal nature reserve in Oregon come about? It dates back to when Eastern Oregon father-son ranchers, Dwight Hammond and his son Steve, were convicted of lighting fires on federal land. The Hammond Ranch story began in 1991, when Steven Hammond started a fire on his own land for noxious weed control. The fire escaped and burned an acre of BLM land that was leased by the Hammond family for cattle grazing. Then in 2001, the Hammonds started another fire on their property that ran off the Hammond land and consumed 139 acres of...

When a Sebastopol man locked himself in his house after a family dispute Wednesday and ignored commands to surrender, police there decided a forced entry might “incite a violent response.” Instead, the officers left. However, they returned with an arrest warrant about four hours later. With the help of another resident of the Juniper Avenue home, they gained entry and arrested Alexander Moser without incident. Police responded shortly before 1 p.m. to the home after a resident there reported that her grandson, Moser, was making threats to kill his brother, according to a Sebastopol Police news release. Officers later learned...

SYDNEY (Reuters) - Religious leaders and ordinary Australians sought to defuse communal tensions on Monday, after a siege at a Sydney cafe by a gunman who forced hostages to display an Islamic flag raised fears of a backlash against the country's Muslim minority. Within hours of the attack on the Lindt cafe in the centre of the city, a Muslim group reported that women wearing the hijab had been spat on and the right-wing Australian Defence League called on followers to protest at two major mosques. The protests did not materialise and little is known about the true motives of...

The Nevada rancher who forced the federal Bureau of Land Management to back down last week may have been targeted because a Chinese solar company with ties to Sen. Harry Reid's son wants the land for an energy plant, several websites report. A report on Godfatherpolitics.com, says Chinese energy giant ENN Energy Group wants to use federal land as part of its effort to build a $5 billion solar farm and panel-building plant in the southern Nevada desert. Rory Reid, the son of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, is representing ENN in their efforts to locate in Nevada. Part of...
