A man hiking a Missouri trail was shot over the weekend by a hunter who mistook him for a turkey, police say. Around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, St. Charles County police responded to the Lewis and Clark Trail, the agency wrote in a Facebook post. A hunter thought the hiker was a turkey and shot him, police said. Rescue crews used a utility task vehicle to remove the man from the wooded area before he was flown to a hospital “with serious, life threatening injuries,” a spokesperson for the St. Charles Ambulance District told KMOV. The incident is under investigation.

ST. LOUIS • Continuing recent trends, new census data show the city of St. Louis is still losing population, with the overall metropolitan area registering hardly any growth at all. The new estimates, released Thursday by the U.S. Census Bureau, also show St. Charles County had the biggest gain in population in the area from 2017 to 2018, while the population of St. Louis County, the region’s most populous, essentially remained the same. On New Year’s Eve, the St. Charles County Missouri police stopped a man for a speeding violation. Subsequent investigation established that although the man presented papers indicating that his name is Noble Yahudah Ben YisraEL and he is a member of the United Nation of YisraEL, his former name is Clarence Holmes and he was wanted under that name for felonious driving with a revoked licenses. GEORGE, Mo. -- The mayor of the St. Louis suburb of St. George, already accused of possessing marijuana, is now facing an even more serious accusation: suspicion of possessing child pornography. ~SNIP~ Goodman, 64, is a retired police officer who was elected last year.
