A video of a polar bear attack which was repelled with a couple of long sticks or pipes has been popping up, on and off, for a few years. It seems to have first appeared in 2020. Some sites claim the event happened in Quebec, Canada. Any help in identifying the location and person/people involved would be appreciated. The video is 12 seconds long. The site in the video seems to be a research station of some type. There is an antenna mast, probably for communication, a rectangular shelter with a door at the corner, and what may be an instrument...

It's big enough to share and "dripping with hot oil and sex," according to Stoned Appetit host Kip Wilson. It's impossible to deny the appeal of mozzarella sticks. Cheese, breaded and fried, then dunked in marinara? That's a winner every time. Even the frozen kind plopped into an air fryer is pretty hard to resist. But not all mozzarella sticks are created equal. Our friends at Stoned Appetit know that, which is why podcast host Kip Wilson often posts mozzarella stick reviews, dishing out scores for "pull game," "taste and texture," "marinara" and "how it makes me feel." Now a new...

A savage brawl involving half a dozen people erupted on a Long Island highway after a car crash — with wild footage showing some of the men swinging large wooden sticks. The violent fracas broke out in the middle of the Sunrise Highway in North Lindenhurst after two trucks crashed Wednesday around 12:35 p.m., officials said. Three people were arrested. All of the men involved “are known to one another,” and two of them are relatives that live together, according to Suffolk County Police.

Dr. Anthony Fauci denied that he deliberately suppressed the idea that the coronavirus could have leaked from the Wuhan lab that was experimenting on ways to enhance a bat virus to make it a more deadly pathogen that could be used to infect humans. “I would say my actions were more intuitively driven than consciously deliberate,” he contended. “If the Wuhan lab leak was revealed as the source of the pandemic I felt it would do irreparable harm to the scientific community. So, I came out strongly in favor of the natural mutation theory.” Fauci went on to point out...

The beauty of markets is that they have a mind of their own. For the Chinese government, this has been a tough pill to swallow. Try as it might, the Chinese government was unable to arrest the decline in the domestic stock market last week. The central bank cut benchmark interest rates and the amount of money banks must keep with it on reserve. A government investment vehicle made it known that it was buying ETFs. The securities regulator eased regulations on margin trading and the Stock Exchange cut transaction fees. Despite this, the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index declined 12%...

A PASSENGER told tonight how a Qantas flight attendant ignored serious stab wounds to his head to repeatedly tackle a 'would-be hijacker' until he could be subdued. Derek Findlay described today's dramatic hijack bid by a man in a suit and armed with wooden stakes, who attacked two flight attendants and tried to crash a Melbourne to Launceston domestic flight. Mr Findlay, 30, was among passengers who wrestled the attacker to the cabin floor after he ran towards the cockpit, lunging at the male purser and female flight attendant. As well as sticks, the man was also brandishing an aerosol...

At least two more daily newspapers -- The Oakland Press of Michigan and The Mountain Press of Sevierville, Tenn. -- have dropped Ann Coulter's column. A daily in Pennsylvania had dropped the column two days ago. Oakland Press Editorial Page Editor Allan Adler, when reached this morning by E&P, said Coulter's use of the word "faggot" in a Friday speech was "definitely a factor" in the decision. He also read a statement from his paper that went as follows: "When we picked up Ann Coulter, it was because we felt we needed a conservative columnist .. and we knew she...

Khamenei rejects 'carrots and sticks' nuclear deal (Filed: 16/06/2006) The supreme leader of Iran yesterday gave the sternest rejection to date of the international package of incentives designed to coax Teheran into abandoning its nuclear ambitions. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said: "The Islamic Republic of Iran will not bend to these pressures." He was referring to the diplomatic "carrots and sticks" agreed earlier this month by America, Britain, France, Germany, China and Russia. These included an offer of help with a civilian nuclear programme and the threat of travel bans for senior Iranians. His comments came as Washington used a meeting...

Does the Quran permit husbands to hit their wives, or not? Summer Hathout is a prosecutor in Los Angeles, an activist for women’s rights, and a Muslim. She denies that Islam promotes domestic violence, concluding in her short article: To those of us who know Islam and the Quran, violence against women is so antithetical to the teachings of Islam that we look at those who use our religion against us as misguided, misinformed or malevolent. On the other hand, Saudi television aired a talk show that discussed this issue. Scrolling three-fourths of the way down the link, the readers...

A MAN linked to Al-Qaeda and believed to have helped to mastermind the Madrid train bombings was overheard last month describing a plot for a woman to carry out a chemical or germ attack in America that he said would “wipe out an entire neighbourhood”. The Italian warrant for the arrest of Rabei Osman Sayed Ahmed, 32, an Egyptian seized in a suburb of Milan last week, details transcripts of bugged conversations and telephone calls in which he not only boasted of his involvement in the Spanish attack of March 11 but also spoke of future plans. The Spanish government...
