APOPKA, Fla. -- A man attempted to commit suicide at the Shoot Straight gun range in Apopka on Thursday afternoon, Apopka police said. The man survived the self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said. The man’s identity was not immediately released. In June, a man walked into the Casselberry Shoot Straight location and took his life, police said. Casselberry police said an Altamonte Springs man walked in and waited until there was only one other customer inside. Tommy McWilliams then sent his mother a goodbye text message and told her he loved her before shooting himself. (Video at link)

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. -- Eyewitness News has learned that the Shoot Straight Gun Range will no longer be renting out guns at any of its Florida locations. According to Casselberry Police, 26-year old Jason McCarthy of Winter Springs rented a gun then shot himself in the head at the Casselberry location on Monday evening. The Shoot Straight Gun Range is the same place where a woman shot and killed her son and then herself earlier this month.

CASSELBERRY, Fla. -- A mother shot and killed her son, and then herself, inside a Casselberry Gun Range Sunday afternoon, according to police. OLYMPIA, Wash. - An initiative filed by proponents of same-sex marriage would require heterosexual couples to have kids within three years or else have their marriage annulled. Initiative 957 was filed by the Washington Defense of Marriage Alliance. That group was formed last summer after the state Supreme Court upheld Washington's ban on same-sex marriage. A Yellowknife city councillor calls plans to hold a Heterosexual Day as well as Gay Pride Day an embarrassment to the city. Montgomery County Public Schools yesterday halted a new sex-ed curriculum that was to have begun today, after a federal judge ruled in favor of a lawsuit that charged the course is unconstitutional and promotes homosexuality.
