Those who watch the press briefings from the White House Coronavirus Task Force are familiar with response coordinator Deborah Birx. Often the only woman on the stage, Birx was assigned to the task force on February 26 and draws on years of experience fighting HIV/AIDS globally. In fact, she served as the Ambassador-at-Large and US Global AIDS Coordinator from 2014 to 2020. From time to time, Birx discusses her personal life on stage, with references to her husband of many years, former Clinton advance man, Paige Reffe. https://heavy.com/news/2020/04/deborah-birx-husband-paige-reffe/
  • Shutdown, not coronavirus, is causing loss of medical personnel

Last week, Boston Medical Center announced it was furloughing 700 employees, 10 percent of its workforce. After Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear ordered the suspension of “elective” surgeries, Appalachian Region Healthcare, the largest hospital chain in eastern Kentucky, laid off 500 employees. Nurse anesthetists are being laid off in Pennsylvania and in other states, even though they are critical to intubating COVID-19 patients. Hundreds of health care workers in Huntington, West Virginia, were laid off, even though there are barely any COVID-19 patients in the state’s hospitals. Family practice physicians and specialists are seeing their practices disintegrate. According to a HealthLandscape...
  • Is This Why The Death Toll In New York Was Lower Than Expected Lately?

Yesterday I wrote about how the official daily coronavirus death count in New York State had plateaued at 600 or so even though the IHME model projected 700+, with deaths expected to approach 900 per day at the peak. What explains the difference? Were the assumptions behind the model, which were based on China’s dubious early data, simply too pessimistic? Had social distancing by New Yorkers been more effective than anticipated in flattening the curve? Could be both, of course. There’s another possibility. There were reports last week that the official COVID-19 death toll in Italy and Spain didn’t fully...
  • 'Ballooned At Inception': Trump To Cull 'Bloated' Intelligence Community

The Trump administration is set to pare desk jobs at the top of the intelligence community, invoking the argument that its staffs are too large and duplicative, knowledgeable sources say. One of the first targets is the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), where Richard Grenell, the U.S. ambassador to Germany and a favorite of President Trump, arrived as acting director in February. Mr. Grenell has brought in Kash Patel, once a close aide to Rep. Devin Nunes, California Republican. Mr. Patel principally wrote the 2018 Nunes memo that exposed the FBI’s reliance on the discredited Christopher Steele...

The COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic continues. As of today, the world has had over 1,340,00 cases with over 74,000 deaths. Since ancient times, diseases have spread throughout the world. But nowadays they can spread so much faster. With today’s rapid air travel, an infected person could fly around the world and infect hundreds of people before he’s even aware that he himself is infected. It’s a global problem. So, how are “globalists” handling it?

Three weeks ago Governor Gavin Newsom projected that 56% of California’s population — or 25.5 million people will be infected with the Wuhan Coronavirus over an 8-week period. Since we are nearly at the halfway point of Newsom’s prediction, we thought we would check in. As of Monday morning, California has 15,247 confirmed COVID-19 infections and 350 deaths — OUT OF about 40 MILLION PEOPLE! California is one of the largest economies in the world, yet the entire state has been virtually shut down because 0.04%. of the population has confirmed infections and 0.0009%. of the population has died from...

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Every day, grocery workers are restocking toilet paper, eggs, produce and canned goods as fast as the items fly off the shelves. They disinfect keypads, freezer handles and checkout counters as hundreds of people weave around them, sometimes standing too close for comfort amid the coronavirus pandemic. Some work for hours behind clear plastic barriers installed at checkout counters, bulwarks against sudden sneezes or coughs that can propel germs. They aren’t doctors or nurses, yet they have been praised for their dedication by Pope Francis, former U.S. President Barack Obama and countless people on social media,...

Major supermarket chains are beginning to report their first coronavirus-related employee deaths, leading to store closures and increasing anxiety among grocery workers as the pandemic intensifies across the country. A Trader Joe’s worker in Scarsdale, N.Y., a greeter at a Giant store in Largo, Md., and two Walmart employees from the same Chicago-area store have died of covid-19, the disease the novel coronavirus causes, in recent days, the companies confirmed Monday. Though more than 40 states have ordered nonessential businesses to close and told residents to stay home to stem the spread of the virus, supermarkets are among the retailers...

The SARS-CoV-2 virus, which has caused the COVID-19 pandemic, has evolved and divided into two different groups, according to the latest study of the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology. Professor Lê Thị Quỳnh Mai, deputy director of the institute said the scientists had conducted the study after it cultivated and isolated the virus since Việt Nam recorded the first people positive with the virus. Mai said at first, patients mostly returned from Asian countries but now the patients mostly had been in European countries. The virus Việt Nam isolated in COVID-19 patients coming from Europe was found to be...

At this time, states reporting on worldometer are 1046 deaths today. States not reporting yet will come in about 100, estimate up, say 150, gives a daily total of about 1196. Assuming reporting is a day late, the range from INME is 1166. Other metrics coming in low - NY hospital beds, NY peaking, etc. I've been watching Maine, which is at the bottome of the range - namely zero deaths. The "probable range" cone is so big as to be useless.

What’s up with Dr. Brix’s modeling? Check this out https://t.co/kgg2gXB7fv— Mark R. Levin (@marklevinshow) April 6, 2020 The IMHE model for the Wuhan coronavirus that the White House is relying on is garbage. It is using NY/NJ data and applying it to the rest of the U.S. It predicted that over 121,000 Americans would be hospitalized yesterday over the coronavirus. The actual number? 31,142. pic.twitter.com/vZCGXB5HLN— Sean Davis (@seanmdav) April 2, 2020

Are we overreacting to Coronavirus? The answer is hell yeah! At this time, the United States is seeing what very well may be the peak in deaths from the latest human Coronavirus, also known as COVID-19. The media reporting and governmental response to this viral outbreak are unprecedented. But what is more concerning than the virus itself is our American collective response to it. It is no less than tragic. If it is not seen for what it is, it very well may mean the end of the American experiment and will lead to new totalitarianism that will harm and...

Web site that tracks actual hospital beds in use suggests the model used by top White House health officials to project the trajectory of the coronavirus has so far overestimated the number of Americans hospitalized by the disease by tens of thousands. Those projections, popularly known as the "Murray" model after the model's lead author, University of Washington professor Christopher Murray, were explicitly cited by Dr. Deborah Birx, the response coordinator for the White House's Coronavirus Task Force, at a press conference in the last week. Birx told reporters that Murray's model, which predicts a shortage of tens of thousands...

President Donald Trump sparked confusion Saturday by claiming a study suggested that people with the autoimmune disease lupus were not as affected by coronavirus—presumably because they commonly use the drug hydroxychloroquine—but then immediately backtracked, saying “maybe that’s correct, maybe it’s false, you’re going to have to check it out,” and his own medical advisor downplayed any connection.

Dr. Deborah Birx said Saturday that Americans should especially focus on social distancing guidelines in the next two weeks to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. “This is the moment to not be going to the grocery store, not going to the pharmacy, but doing everything you can to keep your family and your friends safe,” she said. Birx noted that Pennsylvania, Colorado, and the Washington, DC, metro area were starting to have an increasing number of cases. “We’re hoping and believing that if people mitigate strongly, the work that they did over the last two weeks will blunt that...
