ATLANTIC CITY - Officials say a strange odor caused a Spirit Airlines flight to make an emergency landing over the weekend at Atlantic City International Airport, causing a brief closure of the airport. According to officials, Flight 341 from Atlantic City to Tampa, Florida, returned to the gate Saturday following reports of the unusual odor in the cabin. The airfield was closed for about 15 minutes, and the flight took off a few hours later. No injuries were reported. Officials have not said what caused the smell.

ANAHEIM, Calif. - Surveillance cameras captured a man’s rant at employees over a taco special at a Mexican restaurant. KNSD reported that a customer thought a sign outside Palapas Tacos in Anaheim, California, said fish tacos were $1.99 daily. He missed the words at the top of the banner that read, “Especial de Viernes.” The words mean “Friday special” in English. Multiple signs list daily specials, which are advertised with the day of the week in Spanish. Palapas Tacos owner Juan Del Rio said the man was upset because he was charged full price for the fish tacos. He ordered...

Outside the Benito Juárez migrant shelter in Tijuana, dozens stood in line Monday for a chance to return to their home country, a day after chaotic clashes at the border dimmed their hopes of entering the United States. Members of the Central American migrant caravan slumped in a line late afternoon to ask for return passage, after traveling for more than a month and trekking thousands of miles by foot, by bus and crammed into the beds of trucks for days. Some were tired and reluctantly surrendered their dream of going to the United States, rather than face months more...

TIJUANA, Mexico — Nelmy Ponce and her three children are tired of sleeping on the ground, rain or shine. They’ve had enough of the insults — passersby screaming “pigs!” at them — just because they’re foreigners. When they first joined, the migrant caravan seemed like a way to escape the precariousness of living amid Honduran gangsters. Now she says it feels like its own kind of purgatory, with no chance to apply for asylum in the United States anytime soon. “God is telling me to return home,” Ponce said. And so Ponce, a 46-year-old taco vendor, and her three children...

My mother-in-law used to get frozen Blue Hake from the Schwan company; they don’t seem to have the unbreaded kind anymore, but this recipe for Savory Blue Hake from Genius Kitchen, which used to be printed on the Schwan’s box, will also work with cod, haddock or whiting. My husband also used to just dredge these filets in seasoned flour, and fry them up in butter: http://www.geniuskitchen.com/recipe/savory-blue-hake-174193The site ‘Catholic Cuisine’ has all kinds of Lenten recipes, including this one for Baja Fish Tacos: catholiccuisine.blogspot.com/2008/12/fish-tacos-for-friday.html-JT

Texans notoriously love their tacos – and one Texas REALTOR is taking advantage of that fact. Nicole Lopez-Cummins with Intero Real Estate Services is getting attention after she offered $250 worth of free tacos to anyone who buys a home she was selling in Cypress, TX. Unfortunately for us, one lucky homeowner jumped on the chance to swim in taco heaven and will close on the house at the end of February. So how did one come up with this genius idea? Lopez-Cummins explained that Intero Real Estate Services is a marketing company first and a real estate company second....

I first saw Pour Vida’s "Anaheim-style burger taco" in my Instagram feed. Despite sounding like something Taco Bell might have dreamed up, I couldn’t get it out of my head. I had to have it. Pour Vida is chef Jimmy Martinez’ gourmet taco stand in Anaheim. And the picture he posted on Instagram showed a handmade flour tortilla completely glazed with melted yellow cheese, which was then topped with a pan-fried clump of hamburger meat, a flurry of shredded lettuce, some more cheese, a slice of tomato and Thousand Island dressing. It was a work of art. So I went...

A spokesperson for Yum Brands, Taco Bell's parent company, confirmed the news Wednesday, adding that the shells were being tested exclusively in Bakersfield, California restaurants. The test began Aug. 27 and will end Sept. 23. The company will then evaluate whether to go forward with a wider launch based on the response from consumers, according to the spokesperson. Taco Bell fans seem excited by the new taco shells, as evident from comments on a Reddit thread titled "New Naked Chicken Taco." In the past, Yum, which also owns...

  • Taco Restaurant Employee Hailed As Hero For Stopping Kidnapping

Families in Westchester said they are breathing a sigh of relief following a kidnap attempt Wednesday. The families are crediting an employee of T2 Tacos, a restaurant in the 7100 block of Manchester Drive, for being the hero who stopped the kidnap attempt. Residents told KCAL9′s Brittney Hopper that a nanny was walking with a 4-year-old boy Wednesday afternoon — in broad daylight — when a man attempted to steal the child. The employee — a man named Jesus Delgado – intervened, stopped the man and held him until authorities arrived. (The suspect has been arrested and charged with kidnapping.)...

For much of the past year, analysts have claimed that a host of political factors are inhibiting hiring—regulation, the fiscal cliff, the sequester, the debt ceiling, the reelection of a socialist. Powerful forces, indeed. But there’s another force at work—more powerful, more ubiquitous, and arguably more delicious: Doritos Locos Tacos. The neon-orange, meat-filled miracle taco, wrapped in a Nacho Cheese Dorito shell, was Taco Bell’s biggest hit of 2012, with 375 million sold, or roughly one million a day. It was largely responsible for the chain’s incredible growth, outpacing not just KFC and Pizza Hut, but even McDonald’s. “It has...
