AGAIN, the libDem politicians, including Nancy Pelosi, and the Obama administration are trying to stop the military votes from being counted. The ones that come in after April 13 will just be thrown in the garbage. A week after Election Day, I wanted to give you an update on the status of the race. I am still as confident as ever that we will be victorious in this process and win this race. We got a great court ruling yesterday stating that the counting of absentee ballots must start on Wednesday, as scheduled. It is in the best interest of the people in this district that all the votes be counted fairly and accurately so that they will have a representative in Washington during these tough economic times. The Republicans want to delay this count because...

ALBANY—Now it's Assemblyman Jim Tedisco by 97. The State Board of Elections just posted this spreadsheet showing updated tallies from Washington and Saratoga counties. Counties are completing a machine recanvass before they proceed with counting paper ballots, subject to court action. The total is 76,817 to 76,914. The lead between Tedisco and Democratic candidate Scott Murphy has gone back and forth in their race to replace Kirsten Gillibrand in Congress.

Only 25 votes separate Republican Tim Tedisco and Democrat Scott Murphy in the special election for New York’s 20th district. That means the winner will be determined by 6,000 outstanding absentee ballots. According to the Department of Justice, 1,300 overseas voters requested absentee ballots, 471 of whom are military voters. Unfortunately, it is the military voters who will probably end up being disenfranchised and having their votes discounted, thanks to the irresponsible New York Board of Elections and the half-hearted actions of the Department of Justice. The problem for military voters in places like Iraq and Afghanistan is that it...

The outcome of a special Congressional election in New York’s 20th Congressional District will likely turn on the illegal exclusion of up to 1,000 overseas military ballots, which otherwise would have tipped the race in favor of James Tedisco (R). Tedisco and Scott Murphy (D) are in a dead heat, with 77,225 votes each. Democrats on the state elections board blocked GOP attempts to allow overseas military voting in the special election. Overseas ballots take weeks to reach voters and be returned unless special measures are taken to speed things up. But the elections officials refused to do anything to...

Much of the Hudson River Valley, in all its magnificence, lies in New York's 20th Congressional District. So does Saratoga Springs and its renowned racetrack, as do a host of small towns that should make this district quintessential Republican territory. For two decades, the district was represented by conservative stalwart Gerald Soloman, whose vote often topped 70 percent. His Republican successor should have had the seat for life, but a series of bizarre personal incidents enabled centrist Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand to take the seat narrowly in 2006. Earlier this year, Mrs. Gillibrand was appointed to Hillary Rodham Clinton's U.S. Senate...

First Murphy seemed to have won the election, then Tedisco took the lead, now they’re tied. The news coming from New York’s district 20 is becoming stranger and stranger as days go by. The voting machines are recanvassed, which led Republican Jim Tedisco to take the lead (by as few as 12 votes at a certain moment). As it is now, Tedisco and his Democratic opponent Scotty Murphy are tied, however. Jim Geraghty reports: “The recanvass of the ballots in the NY-20 race has yielded, so far, a 77,225 to 77,225 tie. Saratoga County still has to be recanvassed, and absentee...

Unfortunately, it is the military voters who will probably end up being disenfranchised and having their votes discounted, thanks to the irresponsible New York Board of Elections and the half-hearted actions of the Department of Justice. The problem for military voters in places like Iraq and Afghanistan is that it takes so long for absentee ballots to make the trip by mail from county election officials in the United States to bases in combat zones overseas and back again. As a result, only a tiny percentage of their votes get counted. Non-profit groups examining the issue of ballot delivery times...

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - An already close race in New York's 20th Congressional District just got as close as it can possibly get: The state Board of Elections says the candidates are separated by zero votes. Republican Jim Tedisco and Democrat Scott Murphy are tied with 77,225 votes each on Friday. They're running to replace Kirsten Gillibrand, who was appointed to the U.S. Senate. The race will come down to absentee votes, with the elections board reporting 3,000 ballots returned so far from Republicans and about 2,200 from Democrats. Party registration doesn't guarantee a vote. Most absentee ballots won't be...

20TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT — As counties continue a routine recount of voting machine results, the two candidates in the 20th Congressional District race are locked in a dead heat. James Tedisco and Scott Murphy have 77,225 votes each as of this afternoon, said John Conklin, spokesman for the state Board of Elections. Warren, Rensselaer, Otsego, Dutchess and Delaware counties have finished recanvassing their voting machines, and the updated number reflects their new totals. The other five counties, which includes Saratoga County, have not finished recounting the results, so the total is likely to change in the coming days, Conklin said....

Democrats and Republicans are throwing schoolyard taunts at one another today, for profit. This fatal pillow fight has broken out in New York’s 20th and no one can agree whose pillow retained the most feathers. -- “They want to obsess about the 2000 election eight years later, but they can’t take it when Republicans point out the facts about them trying to replicate their shady win-at-all-costs tactics in New York,” Spain said. “We aren’t going to let them pull a Franken on Jim Tedisco and now they are responding with panic-ridden emails to their liberal supporters.” -- What are the...

Albany, NY (AHN) - New York State Assembly Minority Leader Jim Tedisco on Friday announced that he is resigning to begin his transition to Congress. Ballots are still being counted in the race for Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand's (D-NY) seat in the House, but the Republican on Thursday took a narrow lead over Democrat Scott Murphy. "I'll continue to serve and will be in the leadership role until Monday, when there will be a vote for new leadership. Then I'll be working on my transition and serving my Assembly district for the next few weeks," Tedisco told the Saratogian. "Then I...

Dear Supporter: With your help, The National Republican Trust PAC was able to beat back President Barack Obama’s front-line offensive against American values. When we told you about the special election in New York to fill the congressional seat vacated by Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand, and that we had a chance of winning it back for conservatives, you responded and we were able to send a message to Washington, D.C., that Obama’s massive spending is not wanted. The election was held Tuesday — and the race right now is a tie with some 10,000 absentee ballots still to be counted. We...

Veteran political analyst Dick Morris tells Newsmax that the showing by Republican Jim Tedisco in Tuesday’s too-close-to-call special election in New York was “extraordinary.” Morris also said that with Tedisco and Democrat Scott Murphy separated by less than 100 votes heading into the counting of absentee ballots, Tuesday’s result shows that President Barack Obama is already “in trouble.”

As voting machines are re-canvassed, Assembly Minority Leader Jim Tedisco has picked up 37 votes, evaporating Democrat Scott Murphy’s lead in the race to replace Kirsten Gillibrand in Congress, according to county election officials who are conducting a recanvass. Tedisco now has 77,236; Murphy has 77,224. Tedisco trailed by 25 votes yesterday after a recanvass in Columbia County. Elections workers in Rensselaer, Dutchess, Columbia and Otsego counties looked over their tallies today. Other counties will do so in the coming days. Murphy led on election night by 59 votes. Larry Bugbee, one of the commissioners of the Rensselaer County Board...
