The man who allegedly shot and killed one person and wounded five others on Easter in Tennessee should have never been released, according to the Rutherford County district attorney. WSMV 4 noted that 33-year-old Allen Beachem was shot and killed at a restaurant on Easter morning after 46-year-old Anton Rucker allegedly became frustrated over personal space issues and opened fire. Beachem’s wife and cousins were among the five people injured but not killed. The Tennessee Star reported that Rucker was arrested Tuesday in Kentucky. He is a convicted felon who was out on a $50,000 bond.

MUNFORD, Tenn. — A political flag in the small town of Munford, Tennessee is stirring controversy by using foul language to denounce President Joe Biden and those who voted for him. The flag reads, “(expletive) Biden and (expletive) you for voting for him.” Mayor Dwayne Cole says he’s received several complaints about the flag since it went up at least a month ago. He says the city attorney looked into it and determined the homeowner has every right to fly the flag. “It’s vile. It’s vulgar. It’s protected speech under the Constitution,” Cole said. “If I had the authority to...

A dog and eight people in Nashville were wounded in a Sunday morning shooting that erupted during an argument over the animal, a report said. The pooch was shot in the hip and taken to an emergency vet after two men fired at each other just after 1 a.m. at an intersection in the city’s downtown area, authorities told the Nashville Tennessean. The dog’s condition was not immediately known. The eight adults appeared to sustain non-life-threatening injuries, the newspaper reported.

Sen. Bob Corker, a Tennesee Republican who at times has been at odds with President Trump, told Hill.TV on Tuesday evening that he is confident Senate Republicans will have enough votes to confirm Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh by "no later than Saturday." Corker also accused Democrats of having "overplayed their hand" in leveling accusations of sexual misconduct and assault by several women and demanding an FBI investigation

There may be rumblings that Sen. Bob Corker may not retire after all, but that doesn’t faze Rep. Marsha Blackburn, who’s staying in the race regardless of what he decides. More than that, however, she’s confident about her prospects of winning. “I am running, and I’m going to win,” the congresswoman told conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt on Friday. “I think what Tennesseans want to see, Hugh, is a true conservative in the U.S. Senate. They want to see somebody there that is going to back Donald Trump and his agenda.” Politico recently reported that Corker is “listening” to...

According to police, Officer Matthew Cammarn saw Brian Shannon hitting a woman at the James Cayce public housing development on Tuesday night. When the officer confronted Shannon about it, Shannon allegedly shoved Cammarn to the ground and began hitting him. Several bystanders recorded the incident on their cellphones. Governor Palin wowed the crowd as she arrived on the "red carpet" for Saturday Night Live’s 40th Anniversary 3-hour special. She stopped on the "red carpet" to talk with actor Alec Baldwin, quipping that she likes his brother, Stephen –a conservative– better. NBC anchors Savannah Guthrie and Matt Lauer intereviewed the two of them, and it may be me, but it seemed as though Baldwin was doing his best to keep Gov. Palin from talking. After Guthrie asked her a direct question, Baldwin was forced to listen, while chomping on his gum (or could it have been leftover food from dinner?)Twitchy caught some of the...

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Reuters) - Two former Vanderbilt University football players were found guilty on Tuesday in the rape of an unconscious female student. A jury in Nashville returned a verdict after less than four hours of deliberations. Prosecutors said the woman was raped on June 23, 2013, and that the assault was proved by what the young men recorded on a cellphone. The case comes at a time of heightened national discussion about the prevalence of sexual assault on college campuses.

WASHINGTON/CHATTANOOGA (Reuters) - In the aftermath of the United Auto Workers' crushing defeat in a vote to represent workers at Volkswagen's sole U.S. factory, a key question remains unanswered: did conservative politicians and anti-union groups work together to stymie the union? In an appeal to the National Labor Relations Board on Friday, the UAW said there was a "coordinated effort" by state politicians, anti-union groups and Tennessee's U.S. Senator Bob Corker to coerce a no vote in the February 12-14 election. The union's NLRB filing offered scant detail to support the allegation, and Reuters interviews with more than a dozen...

A man who told police he had been robbed and beaten at a Paris health food store a few days before Thanksgiving was arrested after he allegedly withheld information about the incident and has now been charged with filing a false report. Joe Williams, 32, of 803 E. Wood St. was arrested Friday afternoon after turning himself in at the Henry County jail. Williams originally told officers he had been beaten and robbed Nov. 20 at Healthy Thyme, which is at the same address as Williams’ home. There was also a fire, and Williams had a homosexual slur written on...

The homeowner who shot and killed a 72-year-old man with advanced Alzheimer's Disease after he rang his bell when he became lost and confused in the middle of the night might be charged in the man’s death. Ronald Westbrook rang the doorbell of a home at 4am on Wednesday after wandering around in the dark for almost four hours in rural Walker County, Georgia, wearing just a light jacket and a straw hat in the cold 20 degree temperatures. He had walked around three miles from his home by the time he approached the door. Sheriff Steve Wilson said he...

A Republican who earlier this year threw his hat into the ring to oppose longtime U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., in the August 2014 primary visited Chattanooga on Thursday. State Rep. Joe Carr, a Republican from Lascassas, Tenn., in Rutherford County, who was elected to the state Legislature in 2008, spoke to GOP and tea party voters at the Century Club Banquet Hall off Access Road. He is traveling with the "Beat Lamar" campaign. It's been a bad week for Newt Gingrich in our early state Republican polling, but we still find him with a good sized lead nationally. He's at 35% to 22% for Mitt Romney, 11% for Ron Paul, 7% for Michele Bachmann, 6% for Rick Perry, 4% for Rick Santorum, 3% for Jon Huntsman, and 1% for Gary Johnson. On the surface that's good news for Gingrich but looking under the hood it's more bad news to some extent. We haven't done a national poll in 5 weeks, too long ago to make a good comparison, but on 6 state polls...

The House voted Thursday to allow Puerto Ricans to decide their own political future and relationship with the United States. The vote was 223 to 169. Rep. Louise Slaughter,D-N.Y. voted present. The bill introduced a two-step ballot measure for Puerto Rico to decide if its residents want to change their current relationship with the United States. If they vote to change their status, they can then choose to become a state, pursue independence, or seek some other "political association between sovereign nations." ‬‪ ‬‪ Proponents say the measure gives citizens of the island the right to self-determination.‬‪ ‬‪Critics say the...

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Trial is under way in Knoxville for the first of four people charged in the kidnapping, rape and killing of a young couple more than two years ago. As court convened Monday, the judge read each of the 38 counts against 26-year-old Letalvis Cobbins. His attorney, Scott Green, responded by entering pleas. Green said his client pleaded guilty to five counts of facilitating robbery or theft in the carjacking that set the crimes into motion in 2007. He also pleaded guilty to one count of rape. To the remaining counts, Green responded "not guilty." Cobbins — of...

Rivals has an article about a thirteen year old accepting a scholarship from Tennessee. Lets reiterate that Tennessee just offered a college football scholarship to a kid who probably has not finished putting all of his eighth grade trip pictures on his face book account.
