Hollywood celebrity Chelsea Handler has helped Georgia Democrat Jon Ossoff reach record fundraising levels with her contributions, but she doesn't even know when the election is. Handler demonstrated this Tuesday when she invited her nearly seven million Twitter followers to get out and vote for Ossoff—even though the election isn't taking place until next week on April 18. Special elections today in Georgia. Vote for @JonOssoff in Georgia. He's our man. — Chelsea Handler (@chelseahandler) April 11, 2017 The errant message likely didn't cause too much confusion for southern voters in Georgia, who appear less energized about next week's election...

State-sponsored hackers penetrate the systems of other nations. It happens regularly. The United States does it. China does it. Russia does it. Iran does it. Sometimes, hacking reveals that someone in the hacking nation is working with the enemy. When that happens, someone dies. Sometimes, a secretary of state receives e-mails — on her unsecured, private e-mail server — about an Iranian scientist who is providing information to the United States and then that scientist is later executed for espionage.Throughout the scandal surrounding her use of an unsecured, private e-mail server, Hillary Clinton claimed that she “never sent or received...

Leonardo DiCaprio has been criticised for taking a private jet from Cannes to New York to pick up an environmental award – before jetting back to Cannes to continue partying. The actor, who in February used his Oscar acceptance speech to demand greater action to combat climate change, was honoured for his activism in New York on Wednesday. Along with the designer Ralph Lauren, DiCaprio was given a “Big Fish” award by Riverkeeper, which works to protect New York’s rivers.

The deal just struck between the U.S., world powers, and Iran is an historic achievement that decreases the likelihood of an Iranian nuclear weapon and forestalls the risk of another costly U.S. war in the Middle East. But while the diplomats in Vienna are finished wrangling over the final details, the Obama administration is by no means finished fighting for the agreement’s survival. Congress has 60 days with which to review the deal for final approval, and while Republicans may not have a veto-proof majority, they — along with some Democrats — remain vehemently opposed to any plausible peaceful resolution. The debate...

A Long Island man accidentally set his rental car ablaze in an effort to kill bed bugs, police say. Authorities say 44-year-old Scott Kemery poured rubbing alcohol on the bed bugs because he thought it would do the trick. Then, he lit a cigarette, setting himself and three cars on fire. "He said he had bedbugs in the car, and someone told him if he saturated them with alcohol, it would kill them," Det. Sgt. Edward Fitzgerald told Newsday. "So he went and bought some alcohol, he poured it all in there and he sat in his car and lit...

Are you ready for Round Two? In a little more than a month, the federal Health Insurance Marketplace will swing open its virtual doors and let the masses in. Hopefully, things will go a little smoother than last year. I love Obamacare, but last year's open enrollment process was a mess. Personally, it only took me four applications, three online profiles and two attempts to verify my income before it was all said and done. However, I had it good. I have a friend who lost her employer-sponsored coverage midway through the year and is currently in health insurance hell:...

Dean Baker, co-founder of the Center for Economic and Policy Research, estimates that the U.S. added a mediocre 180,000 jobs to the economy in April. “We have a little problem here, we still have the weather issue to be sorted out,” he says. He thinks it’s possible that the unemployment rate inches down to 6.6% but “we haven’t had any fundamental changes, you just always see a little bouncing around.” “People don’t realize this, but we spend a lot of money on prescription drugs,” he says. “The reason we do that is because the government is giving drug companies patent...

This is a story I couldn’t resist writing. Ron Paul supporters are spraying vinegar at the sky to “kill” clouds. They’re standing in their backyards, on their porches, and in front of their windows, angrily aiming spray bottles filled with vinegar into the air.How could I not write about this? If I live to be one-hundred years old, will I ever again get the chance to write about something so incredibly insane?I have several friends who support Ron Paul. The aim of this piece is not to malign or belittle all Paul supporters – just the ones who adhere to...
