Two weeks after independent Massachusetts gubernatorial candidate Tim Cahill attended the big tea party on Boston Common, he's getting hit with a seven-figure attack ad from the Republican Governors Association. The RGA's strategy, as the Boston Globe points out, is to do what it did to Chris Daggett, the 2009 independent candidate for governor of New Jersey, and inform voters that Cahill is even worse than the Democratic incumbent, Gov. Deval Patrick (D-Mass.). The problem is that Daggett ran generally to the left of now-Gov. Chris Christie (R-N.J.). Cahill is running to the right of the field in Massachusetts, gunning...

Here we go. The U.S. House is about to launch a three-hour debate and then a vote this afternoon on the American Clean Energy and Security (ACES) climate bill. Under the rules that were just approved, only two amendments will be considered, one from each party: The first is a 310-page manager’s amendment submitted early this morning by ACES author Henry Waxman (D-Calif.). The bulk of Waxman’s amendment involves the concessions that Waxman made to Rep. Collin Peterson and his farm-state Democrats to win their support for the climate bill, including shifting oversight of offset programs from the EPA to...

Writing in the March 1 issue of the Pasadena Star News, Tim Kelly, a psychologist and Director of the DePree Public Policy Center at Fuller Seminary in Pasadena, calls for President Obama to govern from the political center and avoid the alleged divisive extreme right wing politics of his predecessor, George W. Bush ("Obama must govern from the center to be successful" - see link: http://www.pasadenastarnews.com/ci_11813772). But Kelly's call for President Obama to embrace a policy of "principled centrism" not only is historically and politically ignorant, it is dishonest and childish as Jewish thinker Dennis Prager has recently reminded us....

After watching debacle after debacle these last few days, I can't help but think that if Russert was still alive none of this crap would still be happening. Tim was a Democrat, but a fairly down the middle Democrat. He would absolute come down hard on this garbage the media is doing now. A real shame his guiding hand is not there right now as it has become the wild west in reporting. Very sad indeed.

Senator Tim Johnson, the South Dakota Democrat who spent most of this year recovering from a brain hemorrhage, is running for re-election next year. In a statement, Mr. Johnson, 61, said that he had planned to seek a third term before he became ill last December and remained committed to doing so. “I wanted to take this second chance at life and focus even harder on being the best advocate I can for the people of South Dakota,” he said. “Today, I am asking South Dakotans to give me the chance to give back to them by announcing that I...

Hard pounding, gentlemen: but we shall see who can pound the longest.- Arthur Wellesley. Duke of Wellington at the Battle of Waterloo by Bill Levinson Editor's note: The difference between 400 GB and 800 GB of “bandwidth” per month at my service provider is about $10/month. GB is GIGA-bytes. A gigabyte is 1 billion bytes. An average blog/message board web page is 150 KB — 150 kilobytes. A kilobyte is 1000 bytes. So they’re saying the Democratic Party, with millions in its war chest, can’t spend $20.00 over the next two months for 5,333,333 (that’s 5.3 MILLION) page hits? Yeah,...

Motley Fool A Dubious Sign of the Times Tuesday March 7, 3:17 pm ET By Tim Beyers I've long wanted to own stock in New York Times (NYSE: NYT - News) for several reasons. I love the paper. I'm a big fan of About.com. And then there's sentimental angle: I'm a New York native. But there's one big reason why I'm not buying the stock. A check of the proxy statement filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Friday reveals that chairman Arthur Sulzberger Jr. and CEO Janet Robinson both received hefty bonuses despite meeting less than 60%...

A Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing By William John Hagan Houston Home Journal 10/29/2005 I am perpetually astounded by the Southern Democrats that we send to Washington who paint themselves as conservatives while stabbing their hapless constituents in the back upon arrival. These wolves in sheep’s clothing are more then happy to support their constituents on visible issues such as the War on Terror and abortion. Yet, when voters aren’t looking, they are out there casting ballots like drunken Yankee liberals at a DNC rally. Houston County hasn’t had to worry much about this type of louse thanks to the exceptional...

Last week the Rancho Cotate High School Conservative Club participated in a demonstration called the "Day of Truth." The conservative protest was designed to counter a pro-homosexual observance known as...

AN Army officer hailed a hero for his inspirational leadership in the Iraq conflict is being probed over alleged war crimes, The Sun can reveal. Lieutenant Colonel Tim Collins, 43, has been accused of a number of “serious breaches” of war rules. Military investigators are examining claims that he punched, kicked and threatened Iraqi PoWs and opened fire needlessly. Cigar-chomping Col Collins gained fame on the eve of the war by galvanising his troops with an emotion-charged address that won praise from Prince Charles and US President George Bush. The officer, who led the Canterbury-based Royal Irish Regiment in...

Tim Robbins’ histrionic speech at the National Press Club on Tuesday, was further evidence of the paranoid bubble-world the Hollywood left inhabits. It all began when he and his “partner,” actress Susan Sarandon, were invited to speak at baseball’s Hall of Fame awards, which were to coincide with the 15th anniversary of “Bull Durham,” a film in which they both starred. Their invitations were recently revoked by the hall’s president, Dale Petroskey, who didn’t feel like providing yet another platform for their hugely unpopular anti-war statements. Ever since, they--and a host of other slighted celebrity pundits--are carrying on as if...
