At year-end 2018, how is President Donald Trump’s regulatory reform project going? Better than Obama, Bush II, and Clinton in terms of fewer regulations; but not as good as Trump’s own first year. Let’s look at it. Monday, December 31, 2018, is the last federal workday of the year. That would seem obvious, but a partial federal shutdown on December 22 made clock-out earlier for some. Nonetheless, a preliminary tally for Federal Register page and rule counts for Trump’s 2nd calendar year has appeared, even though “[d]uring the funding lapse, Federalregister.gov is not being supported." The Number of Pages in...

The presidential candidacy of Hillary Clinton has unleashed something new upon the political landscape: the wives. More than any previous presidential campaign, the candidates' wives -- especially on the Democratic side -- are stepping forward, speaking out and strutting their own stuff. Outspokenness is suddenly a virtue. Hillary is, in fact, running not only against front-runners Barack Obama and John Edwards, but against their equally powerful and ambitious wives. Ironically, the trend of first lady as co-contender began with Hillary when husband Bill introduced a twofer presidency. Elect me and you get my smart wife, too, he told voters. That...

There's a strange debate dominating the Democratic campaign so far. Hillary Clinton's calling card seems to be the experience that she possesses and that Barack Obama lacks. " 'Change' is just a word if you don't have the strength and experience to make it happen," she told an audience this past week, before promptly making the line the centerpiece of a new ad in New Hampshire and Iowa. "Hillary is the best-prepared to be president of any non-incumbent I have ever had a chance to vote for," the clearly biased Bill Clinton has said repeatedly on the trail this summer....

Hillary Clinton, Trophy Wife Has anyone noticed Jeri Thompson is not running for president? And yet, the attacks file in. By Mark R. Levin Jeri Thompson isn’t running for president. Her husband Fred has not proclaimed her part of a co-presidency should he take the White House. Yet, Jeri Thompson has been the subject of some pretty nasty stuff. Joe Scarborough asked whether Jeri Thompson “worked the pole.” The New York Times asks: “Is America ready for a president with a trophy wife?” and “Will the so-called values voters accept this union?” They also dove into comment sections on websites...

Hillary Rodham Clinton said Saturday that if she is elected president, she would make her husband a roaming ambassador to the world, using his skills to repair the nations tattered image abroad. "I can't think of a better cheerleader for America than Bill Clinton, can you?"

The Giuliani '08 juggernaut just ran head-on into Podhoretz's First and Last Law of Politics, namely: No politician seeking the nation's highest office can do as much damage to another as he can do to himself. --SNIP-- The question before us today is whether Rudy Giuliani committed a blunder of comparable proportions by consenting to a Barbara Walters request for a joint interview with him and his wife Judi - during the course of which he said, embarrassingly, that he would welcome her presence at Cabinet meetings and listen to her closely on issues relating to health care. Until that...

WASHINGTON -- Republican presidential contender Rudy Giuliani says if elected, he'd be open to his wife attending Cabinet meetings on issues in which she's interested. In an interview with Barbara Walters to air Friday on ABC News' "20/20," the former New York city mayor and his wife, Judith Nathan Giuliani, answered questions about the six marriages between them and whether she was the "other woman" who caused the breakup of his second marriage to TV personality Donna Hanover. Rudy Giuliani, the current front-runner in the 2008 GOP race, discussed what role his wife would play if he wins the White...

On an idyllic beach where necklaces of white sand and coconut trees ring a half-moon bay, tourists can find prostitutes ranging from young women to even younger boys. They pay anything from $15 for a quick tryst in a beachside shack to $60 for rooms in brothels and $100 for the more upscale women who work the town's discos and dress well enough to slip into luxury hotels. "Put enough money on the table and you can get anything you want right here, right now," said Jessica, a 20-year-old "manicurist" who reels off her prices soon after introducing herself at...

NASHVILLE - Tennessee has executed only one death row inmate since the Supreme Court decided to allow states to reinstate the death penalty in 1976. But that could change Wednesday with inmates Paul Dennis Reid and Sedley Alley scheduled to be executed by lethal injection within hours of each other. With appeals pending, it still is possible that both men could get a stay, but correction officials are getting ready for a double-execution just in case. "We're going forward as if both executions will happen that day," said Correction Department spokeswoman Dorinda Carter. Even though the death penalty remains politically...
