On Tuesday, a judge in Harney County declared that the gun safety law Measure 114 passed by Oregon voters was unconstitutional. Circuit Court Judge Robert S. Raschio imposed a permanent injunction against Measure 114, essentially putting it on hold until further notice. Since M114 was narrowly approved by voters in November 2022 it has been pending in federal and state courts. Democrats on the Boston City Council are looking to extend local voting rights to foreign nationals in the United States on visas, green cards, and other forms of legal status. Councilwoman Kendra Lara (D) introduced the measure, which would allow foreign nationals on green cards, visas, and other forms of legal status to vote in Boston municipal elections. The measure is likely to gain widespread support from the council, which is made up of 12 Democrats.

Bernalillo County District Attorney Sam Bregman made clear Saturday he will not be enforcing New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham’s (D) 30-day ban on concealed carry. Breitbart News reported that Grisham issued the ban on Friday and it took effect Saturday, September 8, 2023. The ban bars the carrying of handguns in public and covers both open and concealed carry. It applies to cities like Albuquerque, which is located in Bernalillo County. Grisham’s ban applies to licensed concealed carriers.
