A Protestant denomination that claims to follow Christ passed a pro-abortion resolution this week that describes aborting unborn babies as “health care” and pro-life laws as “sexual violence.” The United Church of Christ General Synod overwhelmingly passed the resolution “Proclaiming Abortion as Healthcare” in a 611-24 vote, according to the denomination website. A 19-year-old female Elmhurst College student lied when she said she was assaulted by a masked gunman last week, police said Friday. Oak Brook native Safia Z. Jilani has been arrested and charged with filing a false police report. Jilani said she was attacked in a lower-level bathroom at the college's Schaible Science Center. The IRS is investigating the United Church of Christ over a speech Sen. Barack Obama gave at its national meeting last year after he became a candidate for president, the denomination said Tuesday. Obama, an Illinois Democrat, belongs to the 1.2 million-member Protestant group through his Chicago congregation.
