Russian lawmaker Sergei Mironov suggested in a Wednesday post to X, the platform previously known as Twitter, that the oversight and power of the U.S. is weakening, citing the recent attempts by Venezuela to seize lands controlled by its neighbor, Guyana. The politician suggested that other nations should consider retaking old territories that are now part of the U.S., citing the examples of Mexico and Texas, and Russia and Alaska.

Tensions between neighbors Venezuela and Guyana have ratcheted up in recent weeks over a long-running territorial dispute. At issue is a 160,000-square-km (62,000-square-mile) border territory around the Esequibo river, which is mostly jungle, and an offshore area where massive discoveries of oil and gas have been made.

A few years ago when there was some trouble with Venezuela and Colombia I remember reading that Brazil would have huge trouble moving their army there because the Amazon rainforest is nearly impassable. Is this true? What are they able to do now if Venezuela invades Guyana?

Brazil's military is reinforcing its northern border due to rising tensions between its neighbors Venezuela and Guyana over Venezuela's claim to the Esequibo region, the Ministry of Defense said on Tuesday. The Brazilian army is moving armored vehicles and more troops to Boa Vista, the capital of Roraima state that borders both Venezuela and Guyana after Venezuelans voted in a referendum on Sunday to approve the annexation of the Esequibo.

A number of us on FreeRepublic have been talking about this situation recently as something to keep your eye on. It appears Venezuela and Maduro are serious about annexing a large portion of Guyana, the territory is home to huge oil deposits. Haven't seen much if anything in the MSM about this new conflict, which could cause a spike in oil prices and send a huge number of refugees toward our open border.

Frank Gaffney was on Steve Bannon's War Room last week talking about this issue. In the last few years a huge oil discovery was made in Guyana who is allied with the USA, China, Russia, and Iran have become allies of Venezuela, Brazil is now being run by a Socialist in Lula De Silva. Why should anyone care about a potential conflict in South American, the contention of Gaffney and Bannon is China, Russia, and Iran are stoking conflicts around the world, in places like Ukraine, Gaza, Red Sea, potentially in South America to bog down the USA and it's...

The hard-left Code Pink activists who face congressional scrutiny over their links to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) also have longstanding sympathies with Iran and Hamas and a record of bashing Israel, DailyMail.com can reveal. House Republicans have in recent weeks launched a probe against the outspoken, anti-war group to find out whether its leaders take Beijing's money and in return spread CCP propaganda. Against this backdrop, DailyMail.com spoke to observers who have tracked Code Pink's activities these past two decades, and found that members have sympathized with other despotic regimes globally.

Brazil is mobilizing forces and sending them to the Guyana-Venezuela border as intelligence indicators point to a possible Venezuelan invasion of Guyana. I swear, I'm not making any of this up. The Roots of the ConflictThe Essequibo region is a large, sparsely populated area along the Venezuelan border. It comprises 74% of Guyana's territory and is home to nearly 30% of its citizens. Venezuela's claim to the area is very tenuous. The Dutch originally settled the region in the 16th century. Venezuela's claim seems based on a Spanish land grant that used the Treaty of Tordesillas of 1502. In this...

It is déjà vu for major oil producers, who are again considering steeper production cuts. It took only a month after the Hamas attacks on Israel unleashed a punishing war for oil prices to fall below their pre-Oct. 7 level. The steep drop in oil prices last week, with Brent crude briefly dropping to $77 per barrel, led to speculation that the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and allied producers (OPEC+) will decide to cut production at its next meeting. OPEC’s last-minute decision to delay the meeting, now scheduled for Nov. 30, will only add to the speculation. U.S....

Donald Trump's lawyers want the government to reveal all of the undercover agents who were involved in plotting the January 6 riot at the Capitol building, their latest court filing shows. They are also seeking a list of all the undercover agents who were within a five-mile radius of the Capitol on the day of the attack. Their request is part of a massive new disclosure application in Trump's election fraud case that includes all the classified documents relating to alleged Russian, Iranian, Chinese, Cuban and Venezuelan meddling in the 2020 election. The request could delay Trump's trial by months,...

CARACAS, Venezuela — Socialist dictator Nicolás Maduro delivered a hysterical reaction on Monday to the election of libertarian economist Javier Milei to the presidency of neighboring Argentina, declaring Milei a “neo-nazi” and a “threat” to Latin America. Maduro, whose authoritarian regime has yet to issue any official statement regarding Argentina’s Sunday presidential election at press time, made the claims against Milei during his weekly television show Con Maduro+ (“With Maduro Plus”). Maduro offered no evidence to substantiate any of his accusations against Argentina’s president-elect.

Chicago has become so unpleasant that migrants are fleeing back to Venezuela after being dumped in shelters and refused better paying jobs. Since August last year, 20,700 migrants have arrived in Chicago from Texas. The Lone Star State's Governor Greg Abbott sent migrants to Chicago and other Democrat-run cities because of their proud status as 'sanctuary cities.' They offer enhanced protection against detention or deportation for undocumented migrants. Now, Illinois' harsh winters, lack of migrant infrastructure, and ambivalent support from locals has made many people, who undertook the harsh US-Mexico border journey, actually turn around and go back home. Venezuela-born...

Over the past five months since arriving in Chicago, Andrea Carolina Sevilla’s parents have been unable to enroll her in school even though the reason they left everything behind in their native Venezuela was for her to have access to better education. In Venezuela, she said, she was lucky she could even attend school. Many other teenagers start working at an early age to help out their families, who often face extreme poverty. But she did not have the same luck in the city that she once dreamed of visiting. The family went from sleeping on the floor of a...

Mayor Eric Adams has blamed the rise in prostitution in Corona, Queens, on an influx of female Venezuelan migrants who are struggling to find other work. The Democrat said Tuesday that “illegal” activity is taking place in the area and that it is just “one example” of how the nation’s migrant crisis is affecting the city. It is unclear whether these Venezuelan migrants are being sex-trafficked to perform these acts or if they are soliciting sex of their own free will. But, speaking to reporters Tuesday, Adams said: “This is what happens when you create an atmosphere that people can’t...

Democrats across Congress are calling on President Biden to allow Palestinians entry into the U.S. on humanitarian grounds as war drags on in Gaza. Senate Judiciary Chair Dick Durbin, D-Ill., together with Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-Ill., and Pramila Jayapal, D-Was., led a letter of 103 colleagues to the president asking him to grant the Palestinian territories Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and/or authorize Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) for Palestinians already living in the U.S. The TPS program allows those from war-torn or crisis-wracked countries to legally live and work in the U.S., but does not give them permanent residency. It allows...
