Foxx warned that other universities should expect to be faced with similar investigations... Rep. Dr. Virginia Foxx (R-NC), Chairwoman of the Committee on Education and the Workforce, has announced a formal investigation into Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania, and MIT. This comes after the presidents of all three universities refused to affirm that “calling for the genocide of Jews” is necessarily against the rules at their respective universities. Each of the three university presidents refused to answer “yes,” after being asked multiple times whether “calling for the genocide of Jews” violates their own university policies. All three presidents repeatedly...

The 10-member panel on the House Ethics Committee voted Thursday to drop the $5,000 fine issued to Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.), who challenged the report by the Capitol that said she failed to complete a security screening before entering the House building. This is the third time a majority of the evenly split bipartisan panel voted in favor of waiving the metal detector fee since the Jan. 6 protest at the Capitol. In May the Capitol Police issued a report that documented an incident where Foxx set off a metal detector in front of a door to the House chamber....

CNN political commentator Ana Navarro said Thursday on “Tonight” that Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) was likely being removed from her House Republican Conference chairmanship because her colleagues were “embarrassed” that she showed them to be “a bunch of eunuchs on their knees worshipping at the altar of Donald Trump.” Navarro said, “This is not about right or left. This is about right or wrong. This is about truth or Trump. This is about convictions or conspiracies. I’m going to tell you something I just want to get off my chest that I’m so disgusted by, so disgusted by two women...

Congress wrote to the nation’s top universities on Monday demanding they hand over all records of donations they have accepted from foreign governments and rogue regimes, citing concerns that the multimillion-dollar gifts are a growing national security threat, The Post can reveal. The letters obtained by The Post were sent to the presidents of six of the country’s leading colleges — including Harvard, NYU and Yale — after a Department of Education investigation this year found American universities had accepted $6.4 billion of hidden foreign donations. The University of Chicago, the University of Delaware, Harvard University, New York University, the...

The Senate voted 50-48 Wednesday to confirm business lawyer John Ring to fill the open seat on the National Labor Relations Board, the federal government's main labor law enforcement agency, "giving the five-member board a majority consisting of President Trump's appointees through at least 2020"..... The board achieved a reputation for pro-union activism during the Obama administration, which the Trump White House and congressional Republicans have been eager to reverse. "Mr. Ring will be a principled and objective voice on the NLRB, and not a rubber stamp to special interests that were in favor during the Obama administration. We commend...

A chorus of Democratic lawmakers have joined the education secretary, Betsy DeVos, in calling for Congress to act after a gunman killed 17 people at a high school in Parkland, Fla. In a letter on Friday, all 17 Democrats on the House Education Committee urged Representative Virginia Foxx, the committee’s chairwoman, to convene hearings on school shootings, describing them as a “public health epidemic.” “Wednesday’s preventable tragedy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, resulted in the deaths of at least 17 students and faculty,” the letter said. “Sadly, since the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School...

Giving employers such power is now prohibited by legislation including the 2008 genetic privacy and nondiscrimination law known as GINA. The new bill gets around that landmark law by stating explicitly that GINA and other protections do...

All of the congressional Republicans with viable 2016 presidential ambitions voted against the bill enacted overnight to reopen the government and increase federal borrowing. So did two members of the Senate GOP leadership and three members of the party’s House leadership. The opponents also included a majority of the Republicans who are chairmen of House committees and most of the members of the House GOP caucus who aspire to election to the Senate next year. While the Democrats were unified in their support for the legislation, a review of Wednesday night’s back-to-back roll calls in Congress reveals just how divided...

Democrats came to the House floor yesterday one after another refusing to support a ban on late-term abortions the House eventually passed on a mostly part-line vote. One congresswoman, in describing how abortion kills unborn children, was so distressed to see so many lawmakers ignoring their plight she had to hold back tears during her speech on the House floor. Rep. Virginia Foxx, a North Carolina Republican, told her colleagues: “May we, in love, defend the unborn. May we, in humility, confront this national sin, and may we mourn what abortion reveals about the conscience of our nation.” “Madam Speaker,...

Republican Rep. Virginia Foxx of North Carolina, a member of the House Rules Committee, said on the House floor that Congress did not pass President Barack Obama’s jobs bill because his own party “did not want to support” the plan. Foxx added that the bill was filed by “request” of the President, as first reported by The Daily Caller on September 27. “The reason the President’s so-called jobs bill has not been passed in this House is because the Democrats did not support it. It was introduced by request,” Foxx said Tuesday on the House floor. [READ ORIGINAL FOR VIDEO]

But few bunking arrangements are stranger than this.

To be clear, there aren't many in Congress who have more antipathy for the health care law than Foxx. In fact, at a meeting of the House Rules Committee Monday night, Foxx could barely hide her contempt for the health law.

Meredith Shiner and I write today on the GOP's persistent trouble recruiting, retaining and attracting women, particularly in the House. The exception seems to be among hard core conservatives, with Reps. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) and Virginia Foxx (R-NC), emerging as populist folk heroes on the right. But that doesn't necessarily make them appealing to independent and moderate women, says Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.), herself a rising star among a larger class of Democratic women. Asked about Foxx and Bachmann, Wasserman Schultz, blasted away: “This is a party that doesn’t respect women, a party that doesn’t believe women are equal to...

RUSH: Now, we all know that yesterday the House of Representatives, in voting to eliminate all private sector student loans and turn that into a totally government-run program, we were also told that Darrell Issa slipped in a bill there that would defund ACORN and that the house overwhelmingly voted for that. Innocent-seeming questionnaires, tests, and surveys are increasingly being disseminated by government officials so that they have complete histories on every citizen. At this writing, Republican Congresswoman Virginia Foxx of North Carolina is busy apologizing for her politically incorrect gaffe in arguing against legislation that would expand federal hate-crime laws to include sexual orientation. She pointed to the infamous Matthew Shepard case as a “hoax” inasmuch as Shepard’s killers appeared to have been interested in drugs, not sexual-identity issues. Were Foxx a teenager today, she would be spared the necessity of balancing her conservative views on sexuality against the left’s Orwellian...

For once, I actually agree with Olbermann. Rep. Foxx should indeed apologize. Matthew Shepard was brutally beaten, tortured and murdered in Wyoming. His story is portrayed in the play and film "The Laramie Project". Personally, I disagree with "hate crime" legislation because all crime can be considered "hateful". Does it really matter why someone is murdered? Murder is by definition a "hate crime". Is there really any need to complicate the laws? That said, Rep. Foxx's comments are truly "despicable", insensitive and shameful.
